im sure this is a great unit lets play nice and give it a chance. if it fails sp has alot to loose with the community. Still wondering if sp took into consideration about the cam phasing?

I don't build or race drag cars. My experience is what I have seen and felt first hand in a Supra running this exact transmission.
Honestly a TH400 can be made to drive like any stock automatic. Obviously the one you took a ride in was set on kill. They are not all like that.

from what they said the street car motor never held more than 900hp without the headlift issue. from what he said, they have not gotten back on the street motor since.

i personally feel most any car driven on the street over like 500rwhp is much more enjoyable with an auto. way more predictable on what the car will do on upshifts. meaning, you power shift your 6 speed car, will the next gear hit at 4500rpm or 5500rpm, that difference could equate to the car holding traction or force you to lift because of wheel spin. now before i get people saying i don't know how to drive or any junk like that, believe me i have plenty of experience, and can drive the snot out of my car.
imho, i personally like autos when the power goes up. you don't have to worry about these $2500 bairily driveable clutch set ups that will burn up every 15k miles. you can "tune" the clutch engagement in an auto, and the stall speed to taylor the car to get the best of both worlds, street and race.
i am personally looking at the possible addition of the 700r4 auto. very nice overdrive and can be built to hold about 1000hp last time i was messing with them, but i got one in my vette to hold 800hp for $300 in parts and built it myself. get a electronic lock up converter with 3000-3500 stall, and you have a pretty relaxed combo that will give you a really nice freeway cruise rpm with full converter lock up. i'm all about taking it RELAXED, hahaha. but you mash the gas and you will go like a *****!!
btw-the 700r4 will bolt right up to the same flange performance is making now for the turbo400.

I do think you will see a few shops pump out some 600-800whp VQs with regularity in this new year, however 1000whp+ is still about 2 years off IMO as far as R&D goes.
