I knew you were just being general in regards to downtime. I know it can be a real concern for some.

So why are these engines blowing so easy even with good tuning?

I guess the guys that blame their engine blowing on no tuning can throw that out as an excuse. I guess these engines just don't take boost very well. Maybe I'll just wait until the GT-R or the next Z comes out to see how stout those engines will be.

The stock ECU could be doing something with timing that nobody has logged yet, who knows. Now if these stock motors start popping with utec or vpro, I'd be surprised. But so far, most of the well-tuned ones that have blew while not boosting (at least afaik) have used a piggyback without absolute timing control such as Unichip or Emanage Blue. If I'm way off-base here, someone please correct me, but that's how it seems to me.

One thing I need to find out from Zippy and Zivman, is why they're running under 500whp with their build motors and Tuan has continued to run 510whp on his stock block for almost 2 years. Is that by choice or what?
I think Zivman is running the APS kit at its max. Due to the lower compression pistons he is not making as much power. Maybe he can confirm.

Zippycar may have been in the same situation but from what I remember he did not want too much power since he tracks the car often and 450whp was plenty fast for him. This is all off the top of my head..

SGP takes long, but you know that before hand. They usually have like 30-50cars in their shop.

Not to bump an old thread, but what exactly called the engine failure? Couldn't find it in the thread... did you do a tear down and see what happened?
