Motor back in but it wont start. Emanage?
Put my motor back in my Z finally! Car turns over but doesnt start. Heres a little background on the car. I bought the car with a blown motor. The car had a Greddy kit on it with EM blue. I took the kit off and Im putting the car back to stock. When I took the EM off I found that most of the wires just spliced in. All but a orange one. This one was cut, I put it back togeather and cut the spliced wires off. It looks like there are other wires from the stock harness spliced into each other. I cant tell if this is factory or OEM. I tried to download a copy of the EM instructions but my adobe is acting up. Any info from you EM guys would be great! Also is there anyway to check the spark on this car?
you can put an inductive timing light on the signal wire to the coil pack. there is alot of wires that get hooked up. would be easy to tell if i could see it all, but your best bet is to keep trying to download the wiring manual. need to get going, but will check back with ya to see if you get it figured out.
good luck man!
good luck man!
orange wire on the wire harness for the ecm is for the mass airflow sensor. just to make sure that should be pin number 51 which if you are looking at the harness is on the third row from the top, on the side of the harness, 8 wires left of where the harness is split in the middle (that is if you are looking at the harness so the side with the 5 seperated wires are on the left side). i dont know if that helps at all but i hope it does. also this info is from the 2003 service manual. i'm not sure what year the ecm you have is or if it has changed, so i just thought i'd mention that.
^^ perhaps you drained the battery from trying to start the car before. (if this is a completely rediculous statement please disregard it. i can install parts, but definitely don't really know what i am saying as far as diagnosing problems)

Lol, I just found the problem. I went to a buddies dealership and talked with a service guy. He really was kind of stumped and then he said. You know that car has a system that will not allow the car to start right. Right then it hit me! I bought the car from a dealership and at the time they couldnt find the key. The guy told me that he would send me a new key because he had to order it from Nissan. The key came about a month later. SO, my guy at the dealer told me today the key has to be programed to match the car. I guess the key has a chip in it. The part that sux is I have to take the car to the dealer to have this done. I now have to finish my install and tow it to the dealer. Looks like Ill be calling the dealer that sold me the car.

Car is all stock now, it has no spark. The tech at nissan said it would have no spark if the immobilizer was working right. He also said the light would be on if the key wasnt right. The lights on and it doesnt have spark so I think its the immobilizer. In the end it doesnt really matter. The key has to be set for the car. So if this isnt the problem after I get it programed then Ill go from there. But I think it is.
