Default TUrbonetics Turbo UPgrAde??

I have the 60-1 and I want a little more power in my high boost setting. I know their coming out with their tuner kit, but it does me no good b/c I have everything already except for the turbo. My questions are as follows:

-How much is the t66 that comes with the 1.5 stage or w/e?

-Do they upgrade your old turbo?

-What am I supposed to do with the old one?

-Do I need a bigger intercooler for the bigger turbo??

I will try my best to answer some of the questions until MIAPLAYA gets on this

1. you will send in your T60-1 turbo and they make it into a T66 for about $450 . So that answered most parts of your questions. According to MIA/Turbonetics, the Spearco IC is can/good enough with the T66. I don't know how much the w/e( water/ehtnaol injection kit ) will cost. But with all these upgrades, you will need to built your block.

I would run the T66 at low boost and water injection. The water injection kits should help suppress denations.

yea my block is built, so im looking at some serious downtime I would assume huh? I have injectors and everything so my car is ready for a bigger turbo. Since I now know they modify my turbo, the question how long does it take them? and how much is it exactly with shipping to do all this?

A T66 compressor max flow is 72 lb/min or roughly 720 HP of air. With a built motor and cams thats about 700 WHP depending on tuning etc. You can order a custom T66/Stage V turbo now if you want. Just call REggie and tell him you need a T66/Stage V ceramic ball bearing with a .77 A/R turbine...

Well Im pretty sure my turbo seal is leaking oil or something, so Im probs going to have to send the turbo back anyways. I might as well just upgrade to the T66 and officially get some serious power out of this car. MIA how long am I looking at without my car if I want to get this done?????

If you just want a replacement turbo a day. If you want them to upgrade it to a T66 compressor while its there it could be a week depending on how backed up they are...

Rob,
what do they do to upgrade it to a T66? Do they just use the housing and replace the compressor side or what?

the T66 is efficient in higher boost areas not down low correct?

The replace the compressor wheel, housing, and rebalance the entire unit...as for efficient the T66 is still efficient at lower boost levels but is closer to the surge limit. The 60-1 was designed to be most efficient below 15 PSI while the T66 is designed to be most efficient above 12.

We have a GT35R bolt-on turbo with T3 hotside and TO4E compressor for this kit:^)

How would you do that with a T3 turbine flange on the turbine inlet...Aside from that Turbonetics is offering the turbo upgrade from Stage II at a reduced cost as a Core exchange program. Basically they are giving you credit for buying the Stage 1 system when you order the Stage 2 upgrade. Far cheaper then buying a brand new GT35R

What are the characteristics of that? What kind of power numbers with what boost levels can be expected? Where is it efficient?

Well the question is how much can the motor hold. The T66 max boost would be roughly 33.5 PSI within the efficiency island. ~25 PSI will get you 720 HP worth of air...

GT35R max flow rate is 600 HP of air per Garrett. Instead of guesstimating what turbo to run based on where its efficient can you tell me what your plan is and I can find you a turbo that fits...

Eventually I'd like to to see 500-550whp with a built motor. However, my concern with the T66 and Stage 2 is that we will have to run high boost (14psi+). From what I have seen, a lot of the TT guys with built motors running 12psi or higher are having head lift issues and other problems. I'd even be interested in 475-525whp with lower boost levels.

the head issue is a good question, I actually wonder since you just said the t66 is efficient over 12psi. Can the car really handle this??
