Default Vortech...New to FI world

Ok, I have been reading countless threads the last 2 weeks to come up with a budget, power goal and list of items needed to have a fun, rewarding and safe FI experience.

I have decided to go with Vortech because 1.) I am in California and Vortech is carb legal; 2.) I am looking for a reliable "fast" car with a some-what limited budget.

My budget is around $9,500. Power goal is 370rwhp @ around 9-10 PSI

Here is a list of things I compiled (I know there is another thread by New350(?) out there but wanted to start my own also):

Vortech supercharger tuner kit $3,800
RC 440cc fuel injector and 6 clips $595
Walbro 255 fuel pump $84
JWT oil pan spacer $90
NGK iridium spark plugs $90
Vortech 3.125 6-rib pulley $72
Gates belt $38
Greddy timing and injector harness $65
Greddy emanage ultimate and harness $650
AEM wideband A/F gauge $280
Defi boost control gauge $150
AAM fuel return system with fuel pressure gauge $999
Gauge pod - 52mm 3 holes $59
Installation and tune $1,700

Total = $8,672.

My car currently has 5/16 motordyne spacer and nismo catback exhaust. I probably will not get HFC because I am in California.....

Also, I have a 06 non-rev up engine with 5AT

Thanks and any comment is appreciated!

IMO, go turbo. Much easier to reach your power goals, and cheaper. a turbonetics kit will get you there without all that extra crap, and no need for management.

for 370hp u dont need half the stuff u listed.
u dont need the 3.12 pulley, aaa fuel system, oilpan, and 440cc injectors. You could even go with the ss box with fmu and inline pump and still get 370hp at 7-8psi. Also, the tuner kit goes for 36XX + shipping so that should save u on cost.

You are right. 370 is not a lot but I also want a reliable car. Also, the extra stuff won't go wasted if I choose to increase the power later....

The only way that you will keep CARB legality is using the entire Vortech kit. Changing the pulley, injectors and engine management, will lose the CARB certification.

who the hell would know though? Are the emissions people or cops going to take out your injectors and test them?

emissions testing on those upgrades will surely show it's not the stock vortech kit

Emission testing on new vehicles is now every 6 years so we have time to figure that out...unless you know people

Also on a dyno test for emissions (cali) as the blower does not kick in till higher in the rpm band on the vortech you should be able to tune it to pass as I did that with my TT kit on my other car and it barely passed and this is with over 600awhp in that car.

As has been said, you can run the stock Vortech setup and achieve what you are looking for w/o the AAM RFS, injectors, fuel pump, etc. I am currently running the 3.12 pulley on the stock injectors and fuel pump and am running 367RWHP. I also have a 5AT which lowers my HP a little. I would suggest getting the oil pan spacers you have the extra quart of capacity that it gives.

By any chance do you have a video of the 12.8 run you did and was that with the power output you have right now? Just want to get an estimate of what I might be able to achieve with my 420rwhp.
