he didnt tell you about timeing and the procharger.. how do you spell timing or timeing?

Timing I believe.

He said that it was safe under 380rwhp as long as I tuned the FMU rich which goes against everything I have read about not pulling timing.

GMZ -

I agree, getting a whole new oil pan would be smart, but they are expensive.
Over $500 I think.

Also, yes you can tune the Vortech for more power, but it is VERY SAFE out of the box at 330-340rwhp.

I would get the autosport wiring harness adapter ($279) with the Vortech so you don't have to hack your stock harness and also for ease of install.

Good luck with the Vortech and definitely keep us posted also.

Yea Ive seen them for $499-$522. I think its a good investment though, Im buying the kit used and I believe the previous owner has the harness already. Im not really looking for huge numbers, just a little something to make it interesting(its like a marriage with these cars ya know?gotta keep the flame lit ) Like I said Im saving up for the install after I buy,I really dont want to rack up my cc, I like to keep it paid off at all times. So I think I will gradually get these parts and when I am ready with $$$ in hand prolly in Aug I will get it done. I get my bonus annuity and some other $$$'s then also. I am thinking of installing it myself though. Im competent enough with mechanical things, its the electric stuff that frys my brain. Still debating it. Save me a grand though, good incentive no?
Edit: FI.com has the APS for $395, now I know where to go

I hear EXACTLY what you are saying.

I do that with every car I buy, trying to keep the flame lit.

I just have to try to keep a car for more than a year or two.

I am hoping if I go FI that will be OK for me, but I hate to spend alot of money and still get beat by my C6 Vette.

I feel for $5,000-$6,000 I had better be at least mid 12 capable and trap over 112+.
I would be happy with 12.3s@116+, but I know out of the box that is unrealisitic, especially the trap speed.

Oh well, time to get ready and head off to work.

I ordered and recieved one out of curiousity --Surface is flat,Good Cast,Holes line up. I have a shop and keep a close eye on things. Time will tell. Hate seeing people selling their souls for some products that are marked up several 100%. Im running it now and will report any probs. BTW --I run T-442 RTV Silicone Rubber sold by International ( trucks ) P/N 1 830 858 C1 ----Its FAR superior to Permatex. Dont get it on ur bare skin though-When u peel it off, Skin comes with it and leaves a scar.

Is it just me or does it only have 3 fins instead of 6? Maybe Im trippin. I shy away from ebay stuff. Some of it may be OK, but what is the QC on those things like? A few hundies is a small price to pay for peace of mind compared to what would happen if one of those (or anything from) ebay things went poop. Thanks for the link in any case. Now that RTV stuff I will write down!

pulling timing is important you can pick up precharger for 4700 and utec for 7 and be at 5100

Being a former Procharger owner I had to give my opinion.


Yes the procharger may be able to hit 500rwhp with the proper compression ration, I spent thousands trying to make it happen but fell short. But.....that 500rwhp mark is right at redline and you won't get much use of it.


The single turbo kits are cool but due to the exaust manifold design they seem to struggle to get more than 450 to the wheels.

That's why I took off the procharger and got a greddy TT kit. Superchargers are cool for moderate power levels. But nothing is going to match the power of the twins and you get use it are a more usable power band rather than just having peak power at redline

the only limitation to the vortech kit that I see is belt slipping and custom fabbing a bigger intercooler to fit - that's a double edged sword though, less low end power, more high end power. I'd just leave the stock intercooler and use water injection

I dont think going to a bigger IC is a good idea if your still running the stock blower . It flows enough for the SC -trim .

booger, you don't think the stock intercooler with water injection would handle a T-trim if you have cams and full breathing?

STI's and EVO's have smaller intercoolers than the vortech and they're running close to 20 psi

That is what I am looking to do as of right now! My goal is 450WHP with stock internals as you are. Here is what my research has put me as so far.

Procharger
UTEC
FMU AAM (bigger injectors?)
JIC Full Exhaust w/ test pipes and DC headers
Thin Koyo
A/F gauge
Wideband
Crawford Plenum

That is all I got unless someone thinks of more to add. I am hoping that will get me close to my mark.

Just throwing my ideas out there to make a fast supercharger Z not trying to steal your thread!

you could also do headers and you will need probably 550cc injectors to run 450 hp and you will need the smaller pulley and you will probably be at 400-430

Yep! 525rwtq at 3800rpm and 525rwhp at 5900rpm at about 16psi with stock valvetrain
