Looking to remove the factory oil cooler and install your own..look here
Well I've talked with several people lately who have installed or are planning to install their own or a aftermarket oil cooler kit. Most of them wanted to remove the stock oil cooler as I do. I found out today that Nissan Motorsports USA makes a piece that replaces the factory oil cooler ring with one that is pre-tapped for fittings for you to isntall your own cooler. It also to my knowledge comes with parts for you to allow the coolant lines that run to the stock oil filter to be connected together so the coolant still flows through the line but does not run through the oil filter mounting ring anymore. If this has already been posted please excuse the repsot but I don't think it has. The part number from Nissan Motorsports is 15238-E1120 That is the oil cooler mounting ring kit with pre-tapped holes for your own fittings. Use that in combination with the parts list Chebosto or 350Zteve put together and you have your own oil cooler with the stock one no longer connected..Hope that helps..

So what this tells me is that you can remove the stock cooler just like on a Honda and it has the same 20mm x 1.5 fitting coming out of the block. That's cool, something to do next oil change.

when I get my car back, I'll post some pics & a small DIY on my sandwich plate & remote oil filters & my oil cooler. I left my stock cooler/heater in place. Pretty easy to hook up, adds almost 2 quarts of oil & alot of cooling.

What temp's are you seeing?? I have been experiencing around 200-210deg F. recently with 90deg + outside..Normally it runs around 190deg in cooler temp's..If an oil cooler will bring it down I'd get one..

JPC --- Iv had probs going a ways back--I installed Air diversion plate--Then flushed system,tossed the thermostat, cut back on antifreeze and added water wetter. Now I have the larger Oil Pan yet to be installed and going with the oil cooler, Temp gage is running 1/3 on the hiway but hitting 1/2 in slight traffic and will push 3/4 in standstill. Im getting press leakdown so I suspect a little Head Gasket prob. No oil in water -no water in oil and very little loss of water---So -- Hence "nursing it"
Generally all these mods are mods that have to be made anyways ---Im not like freaked out about it, Cuz soon a topend tear down will clearify things. When I do I will do headwork etc. preparing for bottom build this comeing winter----Ur good with the 210 degree temp---But a cool Motor is a happy Motor and mine is a little unhappy right now.
