Sounds to me like you're talking about the new GTR. If that's the case, learn what it's called before you put your deposit down.

 

Congrats you dont know what you are talking about. While some Z tranny's have been and will be troublesome-(due to bad synchros) our tranny's are beefy units that can handle a lot of power, more than most will throw at it. Performance Nissan ran 10's IIRC on the stock rear, driveshaft and tranny...show me tons of people who grenade Z tranny's due to power and Ill retarct my statement but you wont be able to...

 

Yeah there is no question what I would go for either, May car is due to be paid off in '08. Modding should be finished fall '07. At an average of $1200 a month in mods coupled with the $800 I've been dumping to get her paid off early that comes to 2 grand.

I'm seeing a tack car and a street car in my future. I think the couple of months of no modding and no payments will get me at 10% for good down payment. Thats if I dont keep the Z my street car and start on a 240sx R34 RB26DETT I've been thinking about.

YES its totaly worth it to pay to play. Verry addictive. Verry pricey, but verry worth it. If you dont have big enough marbles to play back away from the cicrle. (genral statement)

The more I thought about this topic, the more likely I would be to FI a Z than to buy a stock GTR. I really dig that someone can take a normal Z (a great car) and then personalize it to be something unique (a greater car). It's kinda like the Cayman. I LOVE that car but I would much rather have a 1-of-a-kind TTZ for that amount of money than to drive a stock Porsche. But both are good choices.

 

Thats why I will not get rid of the Z. It's my car made the way I want it. built over time you also build your pride in your car far more than some rich d!ck who walks in signs and drive out with any Italian or German sports car. The blood, sweat, restless nights, and big dreams are what make the car mine not the fact that I signed for it and its just like thousands of others out there.

To the original poster, you might want to consider waiting to see the actual engine and drivetrain specs, availability........and the final price tag of the GT-R before coming to such a conclusion.

 

Everyone is totally right, if YOU do not feel like it is worth it then it is NOT! I would rather drive nothing else on the road than my car. When done right there is not a whole lot of cars on the road that can beat a Z with 30k in mods. If you are going to track the car then it makes even more sense. I would love to have the GTR when it comes out, but to spend 70-100k (depending on who you talk to) I just dont know.....unless I had millions in the bank then I would be looking at other cars anyway.

In the end our z's are cheap cars, everything from the interior pieces that look like sht, to the chips in our front bumpers we had after a day of driving our new cars. Everybody out here that saying "oh i custmoize my car to make it my own" please every modded car on here has a ****in Nismo kit and some kind of exclusive jap wheel,, you guys are full of ****, I mean really, every z is running either one of the 4 main FI setups, and pretty soon eveybody will end up with the same setup,, almost everyones cars on here resembles one another, individuality is not present here. Everybody wants the same rims, kits, and FI setups, so to the kid saying hed rather have a customized car that he built, how is it gonna be customized and individual if it looks like all the cars on here? What im trying to say is there is no justification for spending 30k on a motor build and FI when the damn car costs that much,, does anybody else see this?

 

WOW!! I totally disagree and if you look at a lot of the guys on here that have worked on their cars you would know they do not ALL look alike. Are there a bunch that do, yes. That is a product of how many people mod their cars and how many options are available that look good.
I can't speak for everyone else, but I do NOT have a Nismo kit, nor do I run one of the "3 main FI setups," that is unless you consider JWT one of the three main ones. When I look at my car, I know that I have not seen another one like it around here.

Cheap cAr? My old Toyo Tercel was a cheap car.. Your entitled to your opinion, so i cant fault you on that. I love what i have. I only have a K&N drop in and love it (Coilovers/sways coming soon)..There are alot of cars with same mods, but its YOUR car.. Not the guy who has the same mods as u. I could care less what the next guy has on his Z. Its what i do to mine that matters. As long as i dont have to pay for his mods , then im cool with whatever he has, even if he wants to be like someone else. Every Z no matter what mods even if there the same, drive/feel different. Especially if its yours. Me personally im going FI. I love Z-cars. been addicted since my dad took me for a ride in them when i was in 3rd grade (About to push 30 now). I love the fact that i drive and own my dream car..

This sounds like bashing everyone to me. Also, IMHO it may appear everyone will have the same modded car but I pass about 10 - 20 Z cars per week and maybe one is modified.

 

I personally know "taurran" and he is no "kid", is extremely knowledgeable about the Z and forced induction and is a very nice guy. Perhaps he thought you really did not know the name of the car (GT-R).
