Is it worth the TT upgrade?
CFAddict,
I went through a similar disillusion/disappointment when in a short timeframe several very active members' motors blew under boost.
I have realized that I am not comfortable with ANY FI on stock motor. Beefing up the whole drivetrain to handle FI will run you around 20G for a turbo kit, longblock and tranny upgrade.
As it was explained to me, this is something to do for fun while having enough disposable income to throw around. I see nothing wrong with reluctance to throw that much cash into a car, which despite all the claims of "this is my baby" or "I take pride in my custom car" is still just a car. And not a high end one for that matter.
Just control yourself, getting so vocal about this disappointment will not gain you any fans among this crowd.

1) Place to get repaired for free if something breaks
2) No need to sell anything in forum's classifieds for a discount price when he is ready to move on to another vehicle.
He'll give you a thumbs up when you beat him, in next several minutes he'll forget about you. You'll be the one bragging to your friends for weeks about beating a Ferrari. What you are completely disregarding is that if this "d1ck" gave 2 s h i t s about this scene he'd probably walk all over you with a Z-tune R34 or one of those Top Secret monsters (both can be had for a low end Ferrari price).
And I am still confused as to why is someone a "d!ck" just b/c he is rich enough to afford a Ferrari?

I don't understand the point of this thread. He basically give us his conclusion as to why he believes it is not worth it for HIM to go FI. He then gives good reason for reaching that conclusion. He finishes by asking for opinions. What exactly is he asking for opinions about then? Also, he is comparing to a car that does not even exist today. Nobody knows the exact engine and drivetrain spec for the GT-R. And certainly no one knows the price tag. If Nissan is planning on making this a "supercar" I really believe they will limit production and therefore you can through MSRP out the window for some time. I can also say that Nissan better step up their game as far as their techs and mechanics. There is no way I would let them work on my TT car.

Do you idiots live by every word? In the end our z's are cheap cars, everything from the interior pieces that look like sht, to the chips in our front bumpers we had after a day of driving our new cars. Everybody out here that saying "oh i custmoize my car to make it my own" please every modded car on here has a ****in Nismo kit and some kind of exclusive jap wheel,, you guys are full of ****, I mean really, every z is running either one of the 4 main FI setups, and pretty soon eveybody will end up with the same setup,, almost everyones cars on here resembles one another, individuality is not present here. Everybody wants the same rims, kits, and FI setups, so to the kid saying hed rather have a customized car that he built, how is it gonna be customized and individual if it looks like all the cars on here? What im trying to say is there is no justification for spending 30k on a motor build and FI when the damn car costs that much,, does anybody else see this?

I don't know about you guys, but I am not even that scared of the new GTR.
A Z with a turbo kit, forged motor, etc, will have same hp potential as the GTR, but only one differential to feed, not 3.
AWD is good for traction, but I am hoping that by then the racelogic traction control will become tested for the Z. Then the AWD will not help them either.

Well first i gave up on cars that havent come out yet being awsome when the RX8 came out severly under powerd from what they said. Second if you dont think modifying a car is worth the money ok every one has there thing for some its making cars fast if you dont like fast cars buy a metro they get great gas milage and you wont have to worry about it being fast.

I am in love with my Z and i dont ever want to mess it up in anyway, esp blowing my engine. but also i hate the fact that cars are getting faster and faster and now adays from what i have noticed the Z is becoming slower and slower compared to newer cars, like the ford GT. I hate hearing negative things about the Z. I have also thought about just staying N/A but i heard from others that its too much money. idk so what do yall suggest. keep in mind i am a freshman in college with little money who has to take really good care of the car or else ima have to take the bus to school.
You sir, are an idiot. Comparing a Ford GT to the Z?

The Ford GT is up there with the Dodge Viper, which actually got beaten 2 out of 3 quarter mile runs on tv today ina showdown run at California Speedway. At to Bri's remark. Yeaahhh..... I'm gettilng mine done at by Ted at "Scotts Performance - Santa Clara, CA with built motor at same time, plus a few other little goodies. The guys like Bri, Maluci, and Brina have some super cars at the 700 - 800 hp on the road right now. Ask them what it's like to have a modded 350Z. Or even Bathelb (Bruce). The price is worth it for the owners that want it. As to stock, hey, they're fun for drive, fun runs with others as in groups, etc. But I like "mods" also, and it is ..... each to his own opnion as to what he likes. So in a way, every opnion is a good one, as long as it isn't sarcastic. But the remark to "middle aged people" is a childish remark, some day everybody will be there, of course if they don't miss that turn or stop sign. :-) Just drive safe at whatever you do and it will be fun no matter what you do to the Z or don't do.
One further note: It's not "Jap", it's Japanese. That word is incorrect. Not a point of augument, but fact. I'm sure you meant Japanese wheel, but than of course it's a Japanese car, just like Toyota, Honda, etc. anyway.

mrtomcat already has the racelogic TC system on his boosted Z, and he loves it.
