yea. tell me about it.. i'm still on stock Cats, but with JIC ypipe & RSR...
i'll be selling this setup for a new exhaust system and custom cats...

the load-based chassis dyno we're using is from Superflow. i dont know how much difference the settings are from Dynojet. but we've been hearing 10-15% reading less than dynojet, even with that correction factor... my HP #s are pretty disappointing, but everything on that dyno is low!!! built motor Greddy TT kit dyno'd and only like high 300s.. we think it might be a calibration figure for the car weight that's in the software that we have to change. plus we're not quite sure the %difference bwtn the Superflow and Dynojet might be different as the rollers spin faster at higher speeds..... but for tuning purposes, it's great.. takes much more data points over a longer time set than Dynojet. So for the time being, we're going off the delta in the different runs for power/torque settings w/ different AFRs...

Stock cats! I wouldn't worry too much about the y-pipe and the exhaust then. We've found what part of your exhaust is restrictive.

wow. late update, i guess....

the Crank, rods and pistons have been assembled in the engine.. to my amazement, Howard @ Technosquare had sent out my crank, bearings, and some other engine components to get a metal surface treatment called "WPC"

here's the website:
www.wpctreatment.com

supposedly, they treat the surface with highspeed medium (silica?) and it dimples the surface to create these resevoirs that will retain oil better, to reduce friction & improve durability.

the marketing on the website said they've used it extensively @ LeMans (???) and Howard said they started doing this to race cars in Japan..

truth is i have Zero knowledge of this... i guess i'lll be reading up on it... i think it's similar to Shot Peening...

more updates later..

Similar to shot peening is correct. Most aftermarket rods are shot peaned. It removed any surface imperfections, to strengthen the material, and prevent the potential for crack or deformation propogation.
Thanks for keeping us posted.

Yup. It can be done to just about anything. A little overkill never hurt.
Glad they are taking nice care of your car.

Do you have a plan to make something better than this while still using our stock intercooler?

^^^
yessir-
probably going to use the original prototype design Richey made and make it a much wider collector:

if not, i might got the way KTaylor did and go with a custom endtank to the original ARC intercooler and just make two inlets.

yeah, that peice looks good^ and looks to be better flowing to. Im looking foward to the new numbers becuase that PE collector pipe was very restrictive. do a before and after dyno if you can. i wish i had to compare but i have a bunch of other changes so i wont be able to tell what just changing that out did as far as gains.

LOL I saw this picture last night right before I fell asleep, and then after falling asleep I had a dream you told me that the reason the engine bay was empty was that you're converting to a rear engine setup

you're going with the regular ARP head studs as well?

I'm considering having them Cryo treated for added strength in order to be able to torque 'em down another 5ft-lbs or so.....

IMO, the only reason you cant torque the standard ARP head studs any harder is because they might start tearing through the aluminum block's threads. 5 ft-lbs over what Nissan reccomends should be fine. You dont need to cyro the ARP studs. If your gonna torque them any more beyond that, then you will need larger threads from the L19 ARP studs to contact the larger threads in the retapped block.
