Default Car Running Way Too Rich

Hi everyone,

I got a serious problem with my car.

On the RPM band, there are certain areas where the car is running extremely rich and UTEC can't seem to control. Here is what i've found out up to now:

1)
Car running @ 5 PSI ---> No problems. The map is smooth and I can add/remove fuel with UTEC.

2) Car running @ 8 PSI ---> The car is extremely rich (AFR < 10,0:1) after 6200 rpm and UTEC can't seem to remove fuel from that area. I mean the changes in the map doesn't even effect the AFR. I've made a lot of runs and took logs by removing more fuel everytime. It makes no change. The car is always rich after 6200 rpm.

3) Car is running @ 12 PSI ---> The car is extremely rich between 4000-5000 and 5750-7000. (AFR < 10,0:0 in the areas mentioned). Same as written above, can't get those areas leaner.

I'm runnin speed density and my other mods are listed below.

I got these CEL codes: P0300 (Mult. Cylinder Misfire), P0011 (B/Intake timing control selonoid over advanced), P0021 ( A/Intake timing control selonoid over advanced).

I checked via CONSULT II and my variable cam control isn't working (the duty of that selenoid always shows 0%)

Can you help me troubleshoot my problems? I can't understand how UTEC cant remove fuel, it should be acting like a standalone about timing and fuel while in speed density mode, neglecting ECU so I thought that this could be a mechanical issue. The problem has been going on since I've built my engine about 2 months ago.

i guess i've found one of the culprits. I've copied the 60% column of the map on to the 70%, 80%, 90% and 100% columns. Now the car is running normal and i can control the fuel. So it looks like utec was using some column between 70 and 100% but it says 60% in the logs. My max psi for mapping is 16 and i'm running 8 psi right now so UTEC using the 60% column is normal but I can't find out why it is using the higher coulmns in certain rpm bands. Is this a UTEC based problem or something else on my car is triggering it?

I'd be happy if someone that has more knowledge on UTEC than me can chime in this thread.

Man, I've looked at your past posts and I've noticed so many problems/questions you've had with the UTEC. You have the TT kit and most of the motor parts I'll be going with on my build. Do you regret going with the UTEC? Is there something better or more user friendly than UTEC yet? I just might run the Unichip until all these problems are figured out.

Looks like i'm having more than my share of the problems. I've paid around 1600 for the UTEC (and tuner pro). I regret not paying 3K for a MOTEC now. My opinion is, you should hang on a little bit more with the unichip coz HYDRA and AEM will be released shortly. Oh btw, unlike MOTEC, AEM and F-CON Pro Hydra is coming out as a full standalon and you will be losing the VDC and Cruise control when you install it. On the other hand, you will have total control on the car.

So to confirm MOTEC will retain VDC and CC?

exactly, as it is leaving the DBW to the stock ECU unlike HYDRA, the car will retain VDC and CC.

if your car is throwing codes, its automatically make the car run rich from what i have been told. My car was doing the same, i just did a "street tune and datalogged" had my Fcon tweaked a lil bit, everyting is fine now. The Fcon is the greatest IMO, motec..i believe you wont have AC either, is that true?
