Out of the box tune for most of these kits is "safe" on the stock block/internals. One thing to keep in mind is that companies like APS, GReddy, TN, etc. put a lot of time into designing a kit that's intended for the stock motor. It's when your going for that little bit extra that things tend to get hairy and next thing you see is a post about a blown engine...
