Default how safe is stock psi on stock block?

i couldnt find anything that specifically answered my question, so here goes... im looking to install the aps st on my 06 6mt. i decided not to build my block because of all the downtime and expenses and so on.

i believe the aps st boosts at ~9psi out the box. i do plan on pushing my car pretty hard but not very often and not at the track. how safe is it to run stock boost on the aps st on a stock block? any input would be appreciated... thanks

Jon

As long as you get it installed and tuned at a authorized aps shop you are more than fine. MOST people who blow their motor are people exceeding 400whp and 400 lbs of torque on stock internals. You should be fine on a conservative tune.

It's all in the tune. I run my car very hard (only at the track, I dont street race). It's all in the tune!

That's not true. Sharif tuned my car and it made 410whp and 410 ft-lbs. I snapped a connecting rod. The rods are junk. So it's not ALL in the tune. However a good tune is essential but that doesn't mean a connecting rod won't walk off the job especially at high rpm's. I had my rev limiter set at OE as well. Rev up motors are beefier than no rev up motors.

You have to have some fairy dust and sprinkle it on the motor. That will make it last!

If you plan to stay w/ unichip EMS find an APS certified dealer that can tune unichip and w/ stock boost you "should" be ok. I say this because there are no certainties when it comes to shoving more air and fuel into an engine that was not designed to have FI to begin w/. Good luck man.

Keep your torque under 400 and a good tune you should be ok. I have my kit with over 20k and still going strong on a stock block.

Properly installed, an APS single T or APS TT is unlikey to break an engine at stock boost (350-370whp). out of the box, they typically run very rich, and conservatively tuned. You should be fine...but definately test it on the dyno before going nuts with the engine.
