Default 5AT Shifting with Vortech

I know this has been asked before and I've come up with some minor results, but I wanted to start my own thread. For all you 5AT vortech owners, how is the car shifting? In MM mode I notice it jerks me into gear a little, even at lower rpm (4k). I'm hoping my tranny isn't starting to take a chit. No slipping yet.

In auto, I have noticed the car will not shift at all, like most people experience, and just bounce off the rev limiter. I know people raise their rev limiter, but does this actually make the car shift on time in auto or is it just so the driver has more time to react in MM? I've found mixed opinions on that matter.

Last, somewhat out of context, but do any of you have a problem with the car jerking once or twice when in MM mode while slowing to a completely stop (mainly from 2 to 1)? I had this before the vortech, and the dealer said it was normal, but it seems a bit violent sometimes. Not a crazy jerk, but you can def. feel it.

Also, when going WOT, and shifting gears, what happens to the air that would normally go out the BOV when shifting with a manual? Because the foot doesn't let off the gas in MM, and the throttle plate doesn't close, does the air get recirculated?

Damn, that was a lot of questions lol...thanks all

i had a thread on this as well. basically in MM when you slow down i stay in 3rd...then let the car shift down to 1. i don't get the thump/jerk when i do that...rather than slow down...then go 3-2-1.

I'm also letting the car shift to from 3rd to 1st, but it still does that. Sometimes it's less noticeable, sometimes it doesn't happen at all. I'm trying to figure out why it does that and if it's normal.

if you do feel a jerk thenit should be VERY slight...if it's a bit abrupt then that's a red flag....how many miles do you have? how much whp you pushing?

It's a bit abrupt at times, but I had this before f/i. It seems to be directly proportional to the speed I break from, although not always. I'f I break quickly, but then let off a little and roll for maybe 10 feet, it happens. But, if I just break normally, it usually doesn't. Sometimes it jerks twice, not violently, but you can definitely notice it. Kind of like a click, click. It doesn't happen all the time, and I think it may be related to how I break, but it's hard to describe it. I flushed my tranny and replaced my diff fluid before I went f/i. I have about 47k miles right now and am at 360whp.

Again, I had my dealer check this and they said it was normal. Although, it may have not jerked as hard or twice for them as it sometimes does for me.

I have the Turbonetics ST w/ my 5AT. I had the ECU reflashed by Technosquare. Tadashi raised my red line to 7100 RPM both AT & MAN mode. On AT at WOT it shifts at 6800-6900 RPM smooth & fast w/o bouncing the rev. limiter. Same thing at manual mode. No valve body upgrade done either.

I have the Vortech and have taken same action as jlimquest! Currently have 48,000 miles on my AT of which 22,000+ are SC miles. NO PROBLEMS!

Thanks guys. I'm a little weary about the car shifting at such a high RPM, but maybe I'll end up doing it as well :/
