Vortech Noise at high RPM (Not rought idle)
When I rev my motor to 5k and above I hear a really loud high pitched squeek, almost like an air-horn. It seems to be coming from the driver side of the car where the blower is, not the BOV. My cog belt also seems to ride up about 1/4 of an inch. Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions?
I met up with Andy (617G) last night to try and help figure out what was causing the he was hearing. As he states, at around 5K you start hearing this slight horn-like sound that gets louder as you approach redline. When standing facing the engine it appears sound is coming from the right side (blower side) of the engine compartment (so it is not the BOV). We couldn't determine exactly where sound was coming from. We only saw that:
- the cog belt slid about 1/8" towards back of engine bay at the higher rpm's (when noise is heard) and back again when rpm's lowered.
- It looked like the blower and some of the I/C piping is very close to the fan belt in a couple of areas. Not sure of belt is flexing out at higher RPM's and maybe rubbing somewhere, and it was too dark to check for rub marks.
(*Andy, you may want to look for rub marks on the piping and inspect the back of the belt for any evidence of rubbing)
Anyone else have any ideas?

Andy, you gotta bring it back to the installer. If they know what they're doing, they'll take care of it very quickly and have you on your way in no time.
Stay away from high rpms until you get this problem solved.
Thanks guys. I'm supposed to go see Scott on Sat, but I might have to travel to DC Fri night for work and won't come back until Sat afternoon. Not sure yet though...just wanted to get some input so maybe I could take care of this myself. It's quite the drive to Manchester and I can't do it on weekdays because of my 9-6
Get under the car and see if you can see the AC pulley . Look to see if you have marks dug into the IC pipe closes to that pulley .
Also..Your cog pulley shouldnt be moving at all . Check to see whats going on there also

Thanks guys. So, I was playing around yesterday and I noticed something. Although the noise doesn't seem to be coming from the BOV side, it seems to be directly related. Let me explain:
When in park, revving the motor slowly to 5k and above, the BOV whistles as it goes up in RPM, and once u hit just over 5k, it makes that siren noise.
When on the highway, and in boost, I have taken the car to 6k and there is no noise. When you shift with an AT in MM mode, you don't let off the gas, so the BOV doesn't go off. Therefore I went from 2nd, to 3rd, shifting at 6k rpm and no siren noise. It wasn't until I went into 4th, revved to 5,500, let off the gas, the BOV went off, and it made the siren noise, and then sputtered a little bit.
Any suggestions now? I will be going to the installer on Saturday, but maybe I can come in with a little more knowledge and possibly understand the situation more.
Thanks guys.

Turns out I had a boost leak in the pipe going into the intake manifold. The clamp wasn't tightened enough. I will check my AFR at WOT when it's not wet outside to see if I have enough fuel to compensate for more air. The car feels completely different now, though. It pulls a LOT harder
^^Yep. Moved it over. It has more clearance than yours now, actually. lol
Also found out my AFR harness was fried, so they replace it and that's working now too. Everything is good and the car really does pull a lot harded in the lower rpm range now that the boost leak is fixed. I almost scared the crap out of myself going WOT in 2nd from like 20mph and all of a sudden I was at 55mph
