Default C16 and a little more boost...Tuning update!

So before I switch out to a stage II fuel system, and even larger injectors, I wanted to see what the current setup could do.

So earlier in the week, I tuned my engine to 575whp (STD Atmospheric correction...pure Dyno Dynamics numbers) at 16.5psi on 93 octane pump gas, which, IMHO is the absolute maximum one can safely acheive on pump gas. Figure roughly 8-10% more on a DynoJet.

Last night, we drained my tank, and added 10 gallons of C116. After a few more passes, we managed 629whp@17.5psi

I REALLY need to upgrade my downpipe setup. Believe it or not, the only Forged Performance 3inch downpipes in existence...are on Alberto's car. We are in the process of making 10 sets, and I could definately use them. It was unsafe to proceed any further without completely eliminating exhuast backpressure issues.

Oh, I also switched to the 18's TE37's with Hossiers all around....just for racing. I spent most of last night and early this morning messing around on the street. The car finally HOOKS UP.....its unreal. 100% hookup in 3rd-6th gears with 600whp+ is a LOT of fun.

So that's about it for now. Next steps, are installing the Level 2 fuel system, 750cc injectors, HKS FCON V-Pro, and 3inch downpipes. Stay Tuned!

Summarized Recap of mods:
Greddy TT Kit w/ TD06/60-1 upgrade
Darton Sleeved Block to 3.8L
Arias ED pistons 9.0:1
Pauter Rods
GTM Stage 3 Heads: Full Oversized Ferrea Valvetrain package
JWT S1 Cams
UTEC Engine Management
ATS/Across Carbon Triple Disc Clutch
ATS Carbon LSD
DSS Level 2 axles
Return Fuel System w/ 650cc RC Injectors

Hope everyone had a good/safe weekend.
Sharif

Are you going to be selling those 3" down pipes? I could use a set VERY soon.

Yes, once they are 100% done...they will be added to the website. We are probably going to have a re-circ option as well, since open dumps attract too much attention for most people.

any chance you are going to work on a solution for the TurboNetics ST backpressure issues?

Why would he spend time doing that when TN is doing R&D, and putting out the Stage 2 come SEMA...

Excellent numbers. In addition to the extra pound of boost, is it safe to assume you altered timing on the C16? If so, are you willing to discuss how much you added and where in the map?

Thats correct. With just the addition of C16, the AF ratio dropped about 3/4 of an AF point richer. I did add timing, but the trq curve didnt suit my comfort level, is I didnt bother going too high with the timing, or even higher with the boost. We have a very thorough and methodical tuning process; consistency and predictability is very important. When things don't look or feel right...I will never continue. There is plenty of time for more power later.

Not really sure just yet. The engine and turbo upgrade are producing more power than would otherwise be expected at this boost level, but I dont know if the turbo upgrade is the cause, or the overbore..or the GTM StageIII heads. I changed too many things at once! My inclination is to stick to 96mm bore, and just upgrade the turbos and run more boost.....but I am not convinced either way.

Alberto's car made superb power with the 3.5L block, and stock Greddy turbos.

As Alberto alluded to, TN should be ready with their tested StageII setup, and that should solve the issue. I am going to be finishing up and tuning JETPILOT's setup, and we'll see if the fixes he implemented, will help the issue. If not...StageII should be coming in the fall.

Can you say how much timing advance you added?
