^ the only reason you file police reports is to make sure the other party doesn't screw you over. It's not required to file a police report. Every accident that occured to my car (none my fault) never required a police report because I didn't think it was necessary.

Do you read the policy every time it renews to make sure everything is correct? If your policy shows you as a driver of that car then I would def. get a lawyer. Right now some health insurance companies in Cali are getting their ***** handed to them because they pulled the same **** to families with kids who have cancer. They are telling them their policies were invalid for bullcr4p reasons even though the insurance companies were gladly taking the premiums.

You know, someone hit my car today but right now I'm not feeling too bad about it. Best of luck to you.

+1 - as much as I feel bad that you have to deal with it, I hope you learned something. Sorry to see it / best of luck fixing it soon!

Well - assuming there's no frame rail damage (looks like you might have escaped rail movement as the rebar may have taken the impact without transferring to the rail), then you're in a position where you could self-repair inexpensively:

(OEM Parts)
Fender $134
L Side Support $78
Radiator Support $130
L Rebar support (crush component) $44
Headlamp (Xenon) $574
Lower Compression Arm $112 (assuming the tire rec'd some impact, the compression arm is very likely needed to be replaced)
Door: ???

I did a similar thing 3 weeks ago and decided not to file with the insurance co. - except for the APS parts I'm waiting to be delivered, the car is ready for paint:

BEFORE:

CURRENTLY:

I didn't post on this forum because, like you, it was completely driver error but this place certainly isn't without those that are quick to crticize you for your actions....

I say, if you have the ability to use a 10mm/12mm and 14mm socket and have a little garage space, you'd be good to go on your own. If you were nearby I'd lend a hand...

Good luck on the repairs - if you need help, let us know!

Well said. These things are often a "blessing in disguise." Again, important thing is your not hurt and the car can be fixed. I know it sucks but you'll get through it better than before. Good luck!

Well, Since i dont really know what was happening with my car, or what my mother did on the insurance coverage. I pretty much told her, how i felt about this situation, in a very calm way, i explained to her my worries about the car, I asked her, why did she do this, and that i work hard and have put alot into this car. I then explained that I WILL get my lawyer involved, who he is going to sue? It doesnt matter to me, my lawyer is a Pitbull, and all i say is "sick em". I explained that to her, it looks like she is the one that messed up my insurance, and i feel cheated. I Have a copy of ever check i ever wrote to her. She then tried to tell me, she doesnt know what i am talking about? SHE THOUGHT I WAS RECORDING THE CONVERSATION. I told her i havent filed suit yet, but i will. I then told her to give back my Lexus, or i will report it stolen, and have the police recover it.

I think she knew i meant business. A few minutes ago i got a phone call from her, she contacted the owner of the local insurance company. She told him, that i should have been on the policy, when i bought my tahoe, the exclusion was supposed to be off, she also said that there is a class action lawsuit against my insurance, because of the same thing. These insurance companies hire and fire, like nothing, somehow my policy got screwed, by an employee that doesnt work there now. The insurance owner said that i should never had been excluded, and that if he would have known this, he would have not let her sign any papers. He also said for me not to worry, and that he is going to TRY and take care of everything. Honestly i dont know what is going on, but i am still going to my lawyers office today, i swear my lawyer is like the only person that shoots straight with me, and isnt around the bush. Hopefully i wont have to sue my own mother, geez...im getting too old for this chit. another reason i think my mom is trying to do something is because i found out she sold her house and has about 55k coming, i dont think she wants me to have it.

BTW, me and her do not live under the same roof, i live about 10 miles away.

Doesn't sound like the healthiest relationship(trust me you are not alone). But I am still confused about who drives what. If it's your car, and in your possession, how in the world could she be the primary insured on it to get you off the policy.

The car was a "straw" purchase, pretty much, my insurance was gonna be to high with owning 3 cars, so i thought i could trust her, and put it in her name, thats why she did all this BS, trying to save a buck. Im confused to bro.

First do you mind telling us what Insurance company you have? Second I thought having 3 or more car under you name will actually be cheaper because you will qualify for Multiple Car discount.

PM sent. having alot of cars in your name usually will help for a cheaper rate. I got alot of tickets, when i was 19, So my insurance rate on a Z was gona be more than the car payment, my mom said if i gave her 3k,she would put the car in her name, she wanted 3k because she was gonna re-finance her house, and if the car was in her name she wouldnt be able to do that. So 3 years ago, when i was first staring up my company, i used her name on alot of things, for tax purposes and personal purposes. She got a discounted rate, but the catch was, i cant drive my cars. My mother knows all about racing, turbos, nos, built motors, she knows i how run my car, she has seen video footage of me racing. I dont understand why she would sign that agreement for no coverage on me, it was just a matter of time before i would get in a wreck.

This does not sound too good to me.

You have contacted your insurance agent? Either you are or are not insured. Obviously the agent will give you a copy of the policy. Is your name on it? Yes? No?

BTW sorry that this has turned out such a mess.

Hmmm, from what i know and have heard is that your moms insurance should cover you AS long as youre not living in the same roof. The car should be covered as long as someone who lives in the same house who is excluded is not driving the car....

My experience with insurance companies when its your fault (or you have no one else to lay it on regardless) is that they ALWAYS get their money back.

Just repair it on your own and leave the insurance out of it if you can. You will make out better. If it's actually worse than it looks or you don't have the cash, then you gotta try to cash in, but they'll get you on premiums for the next 3 years. They'll get it all back and then some.
