For $65000 i'd rather mod the hell out of a brand new Z!! The GT-R will have a VQ motor anyways!

Smile okay!@?#$%

its nice to know that everyone has there own opinion, but from my point of view, the new gt-r is a new start in history , its a superCAR, its 4wd, about 450-bhp, respect, damn the only car thats on top of this is the veyron, people should lock up thier porsches, just go sell your Z while you can get a good deal and collect amap till the gt-r is out, then enjoy it, its like looking up to a dream in the future, plus the new Z will be out soon, the modds on the GT-R will be hell expensive for sure, and there will be a waiting list on it probably from here to alaska

If you could afford an $80-$85 vehicle, you probably can also afford to F1 the Z.

I can't afford a GT-R. I can afford a FI Z.

Simple as that.

my G will be paid off in a few months, and all my mods are paid for, ill be driving it for at least another 5-6 years.
I def. have to agree, only thing I would regret is not having the AWD.

Though oh well, having a paid off (less than two years away) car that is modded the hell out is a much better option then taking on another 5 year loan then having the urges to mod a 65K + car.

Agreed.......The expected price range of the GT-R is not a realistic goal right now....my FI Z fits the bill just right.....

Props to that AWD GT-R........

+1. And I won't even consider another car until the fun of driving my FI Z wears off. I'm still having a blast driving this thing.

I just can't believe there are people willing to spend $65k+ modding it(A nissan with a VQ) which is just attrociously expensive for what it is

The price people pay for the GT-R name is crazy. IMO the GT-R was great before because of the legendary same sporty coupe look that has now majorly changed in design and especially the RB26DETT.. That is now gone

THe VQ on a GTR is not going to be the exact same VQ in the Z. It will be built for FI purpose and will definitely hold a significantly more boost than even a built Z.

Here's my thinking on this subject: Keep the Z and paid if off. Drop 20K into it and keep it for another 3-5 years, then get a GTR, NSX, or the new supra. We'll just have to see. There are going to be many fast cars in the near future. It seems that Honda and Toyota are both developing a super car like the GTR. The future of us enthuiasts is very bright! So I say do whatever that you desire to do and have fun!

One advice that I would want to give to many fellow enthusiasts here is to get a book on turbocharging and engine building. It's very helpful when you know exactly what you are getting yourself into.

It'll be cheaper and probably just as reliable but will you be able to get the power down the right way?
I don't think you can make this decision yet.. i think a lot of opinions will change when the GTR comes out i think

the whole 3700 lbs thing with the GTR isn't appealing at all, neither is having 4 seats

I'm going to guess a lot of VQ developments will become a reality when the GTR hits. Maybe some of those parts will be interchangeable with the Z

that paddle shifts are kinda cool, but in some ways wouldn't be as fun to drive. It'll probably be the new straight line king though. Many 800hp GTRs will be out there when people start really modding them

I don't think the option of buying a $75K (where did you guys get 65, nevermind markup) and spending 15K on a Z are in the same ball park.

Payment on a car at 75K is about 1200-1400 a month, not the same as buying HP in installments.

My Z has been paid off a while now and all FI stuffs also been paid off. I will drive my FI 350Z for about 5 or 6 years. By that time you can get a used GT-R for a good price That's what I plan on doing.

Heres what you do. Keep the Z. Wait for the GT-R to come out, find a wrecked one and do a motor swap. AAAAggghhhh the best of both worlds.

fck that. I try to limit what I spend on cars, 75k+ markup is just way too much when you can FI a 350z for significantly less, even less then half the cost if you picked up a used Z and modded it. Done right, it will be just as reliable and faster then the GTR. Call me crazy, but I prefer the looks of the 350z and it doesn't even phase me as being outdated compared to the GTR. Just my $0.02

My feelings on the new global platform GTR are mixed. First and formost, it will be a $75k car which is not for your typical 350z owner. Second, the dealer market adjustment (ie. mark up) will be $10k-$15k for the first year models. Third and lastly here, my fear is that the car will be more GT and less R. Basically more of a rich mans toy and less of a tuner platform.

I still want one. I'm gonna let others bite the bullet on the first model year. I wanna wait at least 6 months after the initial release to get a better feel.
