Turbocharge or new GT-R, a decision for many 350Z owners
With the GT-R getting closer to production, the question for many 350Z owners is do I turbocharge my existing 350Z that is paid for or put out a lot more money, go back into debt and buy the GT-R?
There is no right or wrong answer, just the right choice for each person depending on your needs and size of wallet. Any thoughts on the matter?

So with that said you can throw down 65K + and don't mind a seven speed seq. auto shifting tranny go for the GTR...
And if you cannot dish that much out...
Then keeping your Z, going down the road of boost... And other mods, might be the better option.

Even if I had the money right now, I will never again buy a first year car again. Bought the 2003 5AT Z, bought a 2003 6MT G35 coupe. Never again.

I'll say it is, because the Z with boost is still significantly cheaper than the GT-R probably will be. The 350z was never meant to be the enthusiast's super machine that the GT-R is supposed to be.
I don't know. I've been pondering this lately as well.
I just feel that if I buy the GT-R, I will definately end up modifying that as well. I can't leave my vehicles alone, no matter how good they are stock. I get enjoyment out of making my vehicles unique, and I don't know if I will be able to afford a $65k+ car and modify it with all my other obligations.

Sure, the price of a new GTR is going to be insane, and well out of my reach. But at the most, you'd maybe have to upgrade turbos and/or DP's, test pipes, engine mng't upgrade, then you're done.
Not even going to go in to resale value comparo's......

my G will be paid off in a few months, and all my mods are paid for, ill be driving it for at least another 5-6 years.

But this is how I look at it:
Would I be happier with;
A) A factory bone-stock car that looks and performs very well in all categories and costs $65k
B) A 350Z or G35 Coupe that has been personalized to how I see fit that performs much better than stock, looks better than stock, and is unlike almost any other 350Z or G35 that I am likely to see on the road.
I am not speaking for anyone but myself here, but I know that I get a great feeling walking up to my car that I have put time, effort, and money into to make it what I want it to be.
I thought about getting rid of my Z for the GT-R, but i'll never get what I put into the car. Besides all the late night fun installing new parts, waititng for parts to come in, it's been a fun experience for me modding the car as I see fit. Besides I would hate to see some kid that buys MY car that I built being ran into the ground because it's his first time driving a car that has more torque on the lug nuts then his civic did. I say if you can afford to have both do it, make one for show and one for a daily driver or whatever suits you best.

Damn. I admire you for having 65k plus money for modding it!
For $65000 i'd rather mod the hell out of a brand new Z!! The GT-R will have a VQ motor anyways!
