Default Am I about to blow my engine?

Dont flame on my stupid driving habits. But I am tuned to 8.5 psi making 422rwhp & 371 tq.

I occassionally feelt he extreme need for speed & decide to max the car out. My Defi Boost gauge at the top of higher gears like 4th. 5th & 6th will show ive seen 1-1.5 bars. Am I actually making 20 psi on a stock block? on a APS ST? What is wrong here?

422whp is a bit high for a single turbo setup at 8.5psi for a totally stock block. I know that Tig was having some major boost creep in higher gears, and I have experienced some too with the Turboentics ST, but I don't have the wastegate relocation installed.

wow I would be surprised if you didn't do damage already. I would highly recommend you get that thing checked ASAP. At power LVL's that high you don't have enough fuel and your clutch will slip (assuming your gauge is correct)

could definately be wrong and I am not F/I but wouldn't you all think that there is something wrong with the guage or what it is reading out? From what I've read his motor should have already popped.

1-1.5bar?! the stock block would definitely not take that abuse for long.

It's nice to have money. last time i saw you, you were saying that you didnt break in your clutch and lo and behold, you fried your jwt clutch. hell yes, that much boost is gonna fry your motor eventually. if i were you, i would get back to the shop that tuned your car and get a retune. also as far as i know your car was tuned already. obviously between then and now something has changed. get it checked out or get ready to shell out 5 stacks for a built shortblock/install.

He's got the revup engine. they've been getting slightly higher numbers with that motor.

5 Stacks is cheap, a decent block with cams is 7K(timed/ assembled) and tack on another 2-3 for Install and retune

Even if he only gets a Shorty for the cost to remove the heads, timing and assemble will hurt.

Get the numbers reconfirmed by another boost guage like on a dyno. I have the Defi BF series boost guage in bar and with the APS TT I've seen 1-1.1 bar. The guages are definitely off. There's no way yours or mine could survive that much. I started noticing when I had my alert level set to .9 bar.

There has to be something wrong with the gauge guys, because its been 20 times easily ythat its hit over 1 bar. Which is way too much boost to truely be on the stock block... Also noticed something. Sometimes when I hit 130 after it feels to die as if there is no more power and then other times it catches nice and pulls hard up to 170+ It maxes out the speedometer and keeps going. Maybe I have a magic revup block?

back when i wired my wastegate shut i was hitting 19psi, but letting out really quick. you need to get that checked out of find out if the gauge is ok.

sounds like a lot of overboost, isnt the thing leaning out like crazy? cracked ringlands are the most common piston damage on a stock motor: rev up or not...if the detonation gets really bad, your first symptom of a problem will be a check engine light, motor seizes up, and a puddle of coolant and/or oil under your car- a rod puncturing the block

be careful, if you plan to build your motor, do it before you dont have a usable core for an exchange...

good luck

Just a question, to confirm basics, before we all get excited here,

How/where is your boost sensor installed?

I saw someone else, later in the thread also ask for you confirm your info.

I would watch it because if the gauge is right you could be close to a blown motor. Mine let go at a single 16psi boost spike in 4th gear cracking a piston in half and shooting a rod through the block among other things.

yea it pulls up to 180, can tbe certain but the speedometer needle goes past 160 and keeps acceling. for a few more seconds at the rate its going it has to be aroudn 180. actually no joke the car accelerates between 130-180 as fast as my stock g acceled from 50-100 its pretty intense lol i would make a video but i would most likely die doing it. Anways, I wonder if this over boosting issue is why i blew out the first clutch so fast. Carv2 tuned my car at the end of August could something have gone so wrong since then. I mean i don't really have any issues just I'm scared of what I potentially could be doing.
