Blown. LOTS of time at 7000+rpms. 448whp@6.8psi. Rod bolt broke first, then the rod. I could hear it tapping loudly (kept driving it cuz I wanted to build anyway) and then WACK! Threw the side of the block.
Yeah, just too much stress from wearing it out on a regular basis. The pistons, head, springs, and valves were all blue from the heat. I pitched a tent on the rev limiter constantly. I really wanted to see what the rods could handle just from reading about the motor. My tuner told me that the rods would give if I drove it like I stole it all the time cuz I told him I would. Oh well...

I know why you are wondering this question I asked my self the same thing.
I just decided that blowing the engine would cost me more time and aggravation than building it in the first place.
So that’s why Im building it and going to drive with peace of mind.
You run the stock motor many have but the chances of something going wrong decrease with a build motor.
good luck to you

Yeah I am in the same place you are, but if I get build engine and I would turn up the boost, and then I would need double or thriple clutch and then my tranny would start giving up then my axles....and it just goes on. I am still kinda confused and undecided on what to do. I still have time to research till the TN kit comes out for the 06.
Thanks a lot

are you still on stock clutch?
yea its already known that revups seem to take more to boost and show better response to mods. And so far seems to be doing better with low boost aswell, but remember its only been out for 1 yr but so far im impressed with the revup honestly.

Not true they are going on 2 years now. Remember the re-up came out on the 05 track and 35th ann 350z. I think I am the only one on this forum with a stock block pushing it limits every weekend. I run 110 or 112 VP for safety @12psi. Sharif at Forged Performance has done an incredible job keep this motor intact. IMO a rev-up can run 9psi ALLLLL day long just my 2 cents. Keep in mind that every time I up the boost Sharif re-tunes it. This car has probably over 120 dyno runs in the past year. "It's all in the tune" thats my motto.
