Default Turbonetics wastegate to atmosphere

Whats the best way to vent the wastegate to atmosphere on a TN ST kit? Just turn it around and block off the opening with a plate on the pipe side?? Is the performance gain on this noticeable? Will this affect A/F a lot? I will be cranking up the boost (about 14psi) on my built motor here soon and I'm just looking for tips to get as close to 500WHP as possible with what I got.

Thx

Venting to atmosphere didn't show any hp gains at 8 PSI but might help at higher boost. Flip the gate around block off the dump return to the downpipe and fab up a pipe to route the now open wastegate discharge down and away from the the vital things like the boost signal line and oil pan..

@ 13.5 psi I made 460whp. But the power peaked at 5400 RPM. Why would you want to push it further? Do you want to make peak power at 4800 rpm?

If I were you I would be very careful of uncontrolled boost. I don't think anyone has pushed the Evolution WG that far.

Um, increased boost/horsepower does not push the peak back any...

I'm at 8PSI right now I was just using 14 as a example. I have no idea where I will keep the boost at depends on what we can get out of it. I have the new GTM Turbo cams in my block.

The compressor housing and the 2.5" downpipe are extremely restrictive. Better watch your EGT.
