Default Question for other Stillen owners

Everytime I turn the car off there is a sort of whirring/humming sound for about 10-20 seconds and I was wondering if that is the supercharger or what it is? I can't seem to nail down where its coming from... maybe I will pop the hood and have one of my roommates turn the car off so i can listen from another angle.

I bought my car with the stage 2 s/c installed and that sound has been there since day 1. (about 20K ive had the car for)

Recently... past couple days... when I turn the car off this sound is now followed by a semi-harsh grumbling sound... which is why it has gotten me curious... it definitely doesnt sound like it always has and I would love to figure out whats going on!

Thanks!!

have someone else shut off the car while you watch under the hood for a belt that keeps going, that likely isn't it, there is some screw or impeller in that kit that could be turning....forget I spoke

Humming description sounds like the coolant pump that goes for a little while after you turn off the ignition from what I remember.

That could very well be it... ive ran that possibility through my mind a couple times... i even thought for a while it might have something to do with the bose sound system...

any idea what would make it have a harsh sound at the end...

I did recently install the nismo thermostat and stillen stage 3 pulley... probably... ~2k miles ago.

Not sure what the harsh sound could be at the end. Listening when the engine gets turned off would probably be a good idea. Be careful with stage 3, it tends to go lean.

This is true it could be the intercooler pump that circulates the coolant .I would check to see if you have the updated pump. The first pumps they used didnt last very long tending to go out and causing it to heat soak more then it does.I think the newer version is a Bosch pump not sure.

you wouldnt happen to have a picture of yours would you?

I have had my kit for about 20k w/ ZERO problems outside of one squeaking idler pulley which i removed.

My buddy took a couple vids of my G35c on the dyno last week, and uploaded them to YouTube. His little point/shoot digicam didn't pick up all the sounds that well, and there isn't any footage of the car starting up or being turned out. Still, you see/hear it going from idle to WOT, and back. Maybe you'll catch something?
