I noticed it calculated 3-4mph too high though, as I only saw about 100mph at 7000rpm's in 3rd, and 130mph in 4th but the digi speedo (I never look at analog) was just starting to keep up when I let off so it could be right on...Id say at least 210mph theoretical top speed.

At 60mph with the 3.3 FD in 6th I am at 2100rpm's, should be nice for mileage.
you're always welcome to come over and make that theoretical a reality

i've got a stock track exterior ('03) and my daily commute speed is 250kph (about 155mph)... i've taken it up to 170, but didn't have enough power to go any farther. The car is completely planted at 155mph now. I imagine some suspension tweaks and some aftermarket body adjustments (mostly front fairings) would keep you on the ground. Now tires are the real thing i'd be worried about at those speeds

I was worried with the slight reduction (about 6%) in TQ multiplication my car would feel "slow"...I know 500+whp cant feel slow but Ive read mixed reviews from forum members, some like it, others feel like the car struggles some up top. Last thing I wanted was for my car to feel like it was ******* out at the top of 4th or 5th. So my impressions....

Today was the warmest day we have had the past 2 weeks, when I took the car out it was around 50-55 degrees, on the way up to FT traction was horrible in 1-3rd gears, so on the highway Id have to start at about 60mph in 4th not to spin. First drive----> I hit it from 2nd gear, and I was highly surprised, it spun but not in the viscious way it usually does (like it does in 1st gear), the car still moved forward instead of going completely sideways, almost like a 70% spin/30% traction-MUCH better here. I can now ease into 2nd with no issues-just peddle it a little. In 3rd now, I have no traction issues, immediately the car rockets forward from a 60mph up to 100mph(stock in 3rd is 88mph) when I grab 4th. I love 4th now as it pulls nasty as hell to 130mph (stock is 112mph). Overall I highly like/recommend this mod, the car doesnt even feel 1% slower to me, even up top in 3rd, 4th or 5th. Even at 45mph in 3rd (thats 25mph under the new redline in 2nd) the car takes off as if the gearing werent longer at all. I highly recommend this to anybody with 500+whp the gearing feels like it should be for our power levels, Im on decent tires-KDW 2's, not even summer compounds, and Im at -2.0 degrees rear camber and my traction now feels like it did before in 80+degree heat. I think in summer time with better compound tires the car will hook from 2nd gear with no issues. 3rd gear highway blasts are just nasty-traction was still good later in the night with temps in the low 40's.

Thanks again Function Tuned for the diff/swap anybody in MD/VA hit them up for anything you need----- www.myspace.com/functiontuned

One quick pic...
Is this the facotry Nissan 3.3 final drive that goes in the automatic? Also was it cheaper to replace the whole pumkin instead of just the final drive gears? And did you have to retune the car after installing the gears?

I have the 3.3 final drive as well. They are the ones that come in the auto. Most people are just doing a pumpkin swap. The car does not have to be retuned.

Mine didnt need a retune, a friend of mine with a TN kit needed a slight retune around 5000rpm's after this for some reason. Its much easier to swap pumpkins than the actual ring/pinion.

It was nearly 80 degrees today, 2nd gear WOT = sideways wheelspin at will, but a 50-75% throttle = traction, 3rd gear hooks with no issues on 1/2 bald KDW2's.

BTW-I have done a few 159mph runs with this FD now, and I can hit limiter in 5th gear at roughly 7000rpm's, I would shift into 6th at 142mph before

No time soon. I decided I am going to enjoy my car all of this summer, and maybe run it at the end of the season before winter. Its not worth breaking another tranny/axles/whatever just to claim a time. I'll get around to it, but basically Im in no rush.

Well, I saw the video and wow. My car feels slow as a turd now lol. It takes me forever to get to 159... At that kinda speed I'd def have the car setup to his 180++. With the right suspension, aero mods, steamroller rubber it should be fine. I ran 159 with my stock wheels and Kumho rubber, now that was scary. I'm so glad I got the gram lights with 275s. ^.^;

His top speed is limited to 159, so you've seen his top speed.

And he gets there a tad faster than you.

I was going to remove the limiter, but there is no need to go over 159mph on the street. I may do it in the future but I think its a "safe" (yeah right) limit for me I have some new pads for the front Brembo's coming in, anything over 140mph to a quick slow down and my brakes fade bad! Currently running POS Hawk HPS. Stainless brake lines, and Motul fluid didnt help Hopefully these Nismo R-Tune pads Ive read such good things about will get it done. If they work well and inspire confidence, I'll shoot another 159 video, this time with the 3.3 FD so you can see the difference.

Your brakes would work better if you threw a set of slotted rotors on as well. Don't know if Girodisc makes them for Z's, but they work damn good on Evo's (and they're light as hell).

Waayyyy ahead of you. I already have DBA slotted front rotors, and slotted/drilled rears. I just really hate these weaksauce pads.

Anyone know if the auto 3.3 final drive gears fit inside the 6MT differential case? Is it the same thing case just different ring and pinion?
