Default 1/2 Spacer or wait for Cosworth Plenum

I am getting ready to Dyno tune soon but only have the stock plenum. Should I get a spacer and then try to sell it when the Cosworth Plenum is available or just tune with the stock plenum and wait? I am currently on the pre-order list but it may not be ready until June.

Would save you money to wait till the Cosworth comes out but the spacer should give you more gains than the stock plenum. Depends what more important to you...losing a net of about $175 (after selling the spacer) or more power at the moment..

Thats why I was wondering if the gains and better air distribution would make it worth it temporarily.

Well, can you take a $175 hit? You could save it, invest it and earn some interest, and be closer to gettin the cosworth! (sry, studying for finance/advanced managerial acctg has got me sayin crazy things)

Isn't the Cosworth just giving a 17hp gain on a non-rev up engine?

It would be cool if you could dyno with the stock plenum and then the 1/2" spacer

But if there isnt time for that, IMO, I would wait for the Cosworth..

Last week at the supra nationals, two people from Cosworth(one that doesnt work there anymore, but worked at a local shop here in Houston), said, they went through 5-6 different manifolds, all which lost power in the upper rpm's. On top of that, none of them cleared the factory hood. They did say, that the protype, that they have now, did make power, but wasnt 17hp though, more like 9. Plus, Cosworth USA, is not the ones manufactoring the plenum, its Cosworth Australia. This is why it is taking so long, for the final production piece, to be released.

People have to realize, that our manifold, is extremely difficult to manufactor to try and make power from. I think ideas like Speedforce and MRC is the way to go, for high hp applications.

I would go ahead and purchase the 1/2 inch spacer. It is proven and not costly at all. Hell, you could turn around and sell it, for a nice price anyway. Wait until Sharif or another vendor tries it out for themselves.
