HKS Vpro, do i need these to have a good tune?
I have mostly innovate logging gear, but I skipped their wideband because of the problems reported on their own forums. Not sure what the issue is, but longevity was a concern for me...
Thankfully their auxbox can just read in any analog source and display that onto an XD-16 gauge, so it wasn't a big deal to interface another wideband.
Gurgen, if you have a direct line of communication with Klaus, can I pass along a request? I am hoping he can figure out some way to reprogram XD-16 gauges without having to hardwire them; perhaps a new firmware update that'd allow one to just push the button on the outside to put it into programming mode??? I'd like to be able to change their display using software alone... I posted onto their forums, with little interest from Klaus, but others did chime in that this would help address a shortcoming.

Yup those are people who's opinion I'd give absolutely no weight to.

The wideband debate can go on forever. My 2cents:
1. You can debate on paper which one is better - similar to bench racing. Reality is individuals and people on a budget will continue to opt for less expensive innovate/bosch units, while the bigger tuners (dynos, shops, etc) will continue to use NTK.
2. Both will work if calibrated, but in the end AFR is just a number. While people may have a magic AF # they are tuning for, what matters is where the engine is happy. People obsess over dialing in that perfect 10.8 AF, 11.2, 11.5, 12.0 12.5 whatever... but throw another wideband on that car and they would be adjusting the tune again.
