JWT TT getting impatient

But the basis of my previous statement was based on whether the JW kit would pass the smog test or not? Even though it has no CARB EO...I guess time will tell when some of these cars need to be tested.

It would pass a tail pipe test and a ECU scan. It is the cold start test that so far cannot be passed. The state testing agencies do not conduct a cold start test. The visual inspection is the problem and the consequence of failing is significant if you want to continue driving the car on the road. In Az as least if you even sell a non- compliant car w/o telling the buyer it can only be legally be driven off road you are liable. The regs have plenty of teeth if enforced. Most states use CARB standards as the gold standard so it isn't just a Cali issue.
If would appear from what has been approved thus far that the only FI capable of passing CARB is going to be a supercharger since they do not reduce exhaust gas temperature at the cat/s.

I wonder if thermal coating all the headers and exhaust tubing would help. It should keep the heat in, which the turbos would use some of, but also enough might be left over to help with the cold start.
By the way, no emissions in most of Colorado! (except Denver) which is why I bit the bullet and got my JWT TT kit. When the USMC moves me somewhere else in 2 years, I'm keeping my house here and renting it out. I can use that as a legal means of keeping my car registered in Colorado, thus avoiding the CARB *****.

So, are you guys saying that you think it would pass a smog test if the tech didnt know what to look for? I think I understood that right. Makes sense, JWT just cant get the Carb sticker from Cali, but the test wouldnt know it was there....interesting!
