Default Greddy Turbo installation "MOTOR IN"

Hey guys, i'm in the process of installing the greddy turbo kit, but i have a problem getting the driver side turbocharge. The steering shaft is off the steering rack, but it is still blocking the turbo. Also, i already tried to lift the engine about 2", but nothing has changed. Any idea would be appreciated.

Thanks

I dunno man, you just have to kinda "work it in there". Not something that could be described on the forum. When i was doing my APS TT install with the motor in the car, the passenger side turbo was a beyotch to get up in place.

I guess you could try unbolting the front crossmember and lowering it an inch or two.

check your PMs.

It can be done.........mine was snug, but it goes up there without lifting the motor or anything else like that. try turning it around, upside down, etc...... it'll go!!!

just wait until you get to the front turbo-to-manifold bolts. :-) then, you'll be frustrated!!!

i would say to have pulled the motor from the start. The motor comes out pretty easily, and i would say way less frustrating then trying to install the greddy kit in the car. once the motor is out the kit is cake. Plus with the motor out you can make sure everything is tight to insure there are no boost leaks, because those wastegates are REALLY HARD to get tight with the kit in the car. Im not saying that its impossible, just frustrating and you might need to modify some of your tools.lol But if you've made it this far keep going!!!!!! I will take a look at one of the greddy tt cars that we have here at the shop and see if i cant help you out. good luck

+ wastegate bolts.. Those IMO were the hardest to get on. 5 hours for 2 bolts is crazy.. Never again will I install a Greddy kit without pulling the motor and I had a lift, the works.. If pulling the motor is NOT an option, then I would think about an easier kit..

the wastegate bolts are freaking retarded, I had to make some different size length ball drivers just to put thost bolts in. Would be nice if you could put the engine in with the wastegates attached but they hit on the transmission.

no problem with the wastegate bolts for me. They were slow to install, but not a problem. I used a crow's foot and a trick ratchet! I didn't use the allen heads bolts.

Mine is 03. every thing is now on. the whole process took me about 4 hrs to install both turbos. Alos, there is no need to pull the motor out. the right side turbo is easier than the driver side. i just took off the A/C and the driver side engine bracket. for this side, i used a jack under the motor and took off every thing in this side. Also, do you guys think it is possible to install the WG and WG/dumps with the motor in?

I'll post some pics soon.

with the dumps it should be easier to do but with the normal recirculating wastegates are very hard to do in the car it is possible but they are hard to tighten. you just really want those to be tight because you dont want a boost leak. make sure you dont forget those compression rings in the wastegate!

when i do the greddy turbos with engine in the car, i loosen the turbine housing clamp so that the housings can rotate independant of one another while navigating them in.

oh yeah...I did that too. It makes it nice so you can clock the turbo into the best position.
