Default Need advice...Vortech with 3.12 and 380cc ?

Hi there !

I just bought a brand nwe Vortech full kit... AND some extras like the 3...? puley with a set of 380cc injectors...plug and play...

now, do I need to buy a Walbro 255 ? or the fuel pump in the kit will be ok ?

and to run the 380cc injectors and tune properly the car, do I need to change the washer in the FMU ? or anything else ?

any suggestions or comments are welcome !

that'd probably be ok, but 440cc's would be a little more optimal so you'd have some extra headroom

hummm... as I saw here, I don't think the return fuel kit is necessary with the Vortech and the 380cc... but I'm not sure... maybe the walbro 255... but if the in line fuel pump that is coming in the Vortech kit is ok with the 380...

I just want to do it right the first time...

any more vortech owner here ?

thanks to all !

buy the way, WOW ! very nice numbers Sentry65 !!!

More than likely it is best to flash the ecu for the bigger injectors. Right now your car thinks it has the stock injectors. So at the same pressure, the new ones will put out more fuel and throw your a/f off and you won't be able to change that without doing a flash or getting some sort of piggyback.

+1 If your gonna keep the SS box , an ECU flash for the 380's works the best and then tune it with the SS box . I'm not sure if you would have to go to a smaller washer in the FMU....If its a 8 to 1 FMU...yes you probably would . If its a 6 to1 FMU...[ 2004 1/2 and later ] I dont know ?

I saw many 3.12 user here run their kit with the stock injectors...295cc...at almost 100% of their duty cycle...and when tune, it is fine...

so, I'm assuming if I just install JWT 380cc without nothing else like the walbro,, but the inline Vortech fuel pump, why it should be worst that the OEM one ? it should be safer and more tunable... no ?

if not, I will put the 3.12 with the stock injectors and get a tune... like many here...

I have the full Vortech kit with the stock injectors with the 3.12 pulley. And have been running this setup for almost 6 months with no problems. Just get a really good tune and you should be good to go.

If you have a 04 1/2 kit or newer . I would say go for it . You will have to get it tuned for sure . I dont know if the cars ECU can adjust enough for start up and idle . If it cant..send the ECU in to have it flashed for the the injectors .

From what i read on here, you dont need any additional items to run the 3.12 pulley, other than some tuning of course.
