i have a G so i would have to re-route the a/c lines that are in front of my charger now. Probably would have to do something with the radiator fans or the charge pipe because the output on the ysi is larger.

you'd just pipe it like a powerlab kit, up across the front of the motor
prolly be able to use a 90* silicone hose. but like the JWT kits, its pretty easy to move the AC lines also

i got the vortech kit on my car and its currently at the body shop.. i have the choice to keep my mesh grill on my v2 bumper.. or take it off and would obvvioiusly just show the fmic with no protection? i see many people run iit this way.. is there any bad results that can happen... or is it just preference..i like how the bumper loooks without the grill but i dont want to mess the intercooler fins up?

do you hit a lot of small animals?

depending how tight the mesh is it might get messed up anyways. If it's a tight mesh then str8 is correct: mesh will save it

Fine mesh looks good to me. That's how I roll.

I do a good job of dodging otherwise they get stuck under my bumper because there is not much clearance. I'm not on a dirt road, but I can shoot gophers from my kitchen window with a 12guage, so you know I have to be secluded. Deer is what I worry about.

I live on a farm too.

To keep on topic....my ss box failed. Is the unichip from Vortech a good replacement? I don't need anything complicated.

The fuel system is meant to run with the SS box, just buy another one, I dont think they cost too much.

ya, deer>350z

i would say buy another ss box. If you're wanting simple then the simplest thing (install and everything) would be puting ss box back in. You'll have to mess with tuning again if you change to unichip.

After messing with osiris i miss my ss box but i do'nt miss the headaches it caused.

Look around for an ss box and if you can't find one i might be able to sell you mine. I didn't want to get rid of it because i'm going to sell my whole vortech kit when i get out of med school and complete system will sell faster.

My Z is in the shop that installed it now. They tried calling vortech yesterday, but I guess they were closed. I have heard, but I don't know if this is true, that vortech is using unichip now. Either way the shop will call Vortech Monday and hopefully I have my car back for a drag race series that starts Weds.

I think the rev up kits get unichip. Unless something has changed they are still using ss box for the non-rev kits.

Anyone know what RPMs our bearings are rated at? I know the Impeller is like 52 or 53K.

there was a huge thing on this and someone ended up calling the manufacturer. I don't remember what they found but it was higher than what the impeller was rated.

what would be the best compression ratio when building a block for use with a vortech supercharger (t-trim) and a goal of around 500 bhp (crank)?

If all you are going to use is the vortech at 12-14psi (basically vortech max) then you could use a stock compression ratio. There are quite a few that max out your power goals on a stock block which means stronger parts on a stock compression would work.

That being said, if you were going to replace internals i would strongly suggest lowering the compression just in case you decide to upgrade your forced induction later.

It seems 9:1 or 9.5:1 is the norm. I have 9.5:1 in my car which is quite a bit lower than needed for my vortech. I plan on upgrading to a large turbo at a later date though.

I would talk to whoever is building your engine and see if they have a preference. It's always good to use what the builder is used to.
