Default Replacement Vortech Supercharger Pulley

Hi

I have one of the Vortech S/Cs on my UK 350z over here in London. I am getting a noise at about 5000rpm which I have had diagnosed as the Smooth Idler Pulley "Vortech 6-Rib Smooth Plastic Idler Pulley (3 Inch)", which is part number 4FH016-150 I believe.

I have ordered a replacement but it is going to take weeks to get shipped over here, so I was wondering if anyone knew if it is possible to replace just the bearing in the pulley.

I have seen a picture of a pulley (not necessarily the exact same one) which makes is look like it is possible to press out the bearing and put in a new one, which is something I could get done here in the UK in a day!

Does anyone know if the bearing in the pulley that ships with the unit is user replaceable? If it is, do you know what size it is? I will try contacting Vortech again, however I have not had any reponses to my emails and with the time difference it is hard to get them on the phone.

Thanks

Rob

Take it to a shop that can do it and see what they say. Since you ordered another one already, can't hurt to see what you can do with this one.

Problem is they'll still charge me the labour to check, not cheap in the UK....would cost me $100+ just to find out if it can be replaced, find the size - then they have to check if they can get that size.

I either need to wait for my new pulley to arrive or get hold of Vortech, will try again at 5pm (9am PST!).

I got an answer to my question and will post here in case anyone in the future searches for the same answer.

The plastic pulleys are made by Dayco (Vortech buy in the whole pulley assembly pre-made from them) and they do not have replaceable bearings, they are moulded onto and around the bearing.

The part number for the Idler pulley is Dayco 89003 (have confirmed this with Vortech and Dayco) and they are about $11 to buy online!

Have ordered a new one, should be in the UK on Friday so with some luck my car will be back up and running early next week.
