Has anyone done this? i want to take mine apart so i can powder coat the aluminum part that is not blue.

if you have done it, as it easy? any special instructions?

Where can i get a replacement? are there any substitutes? its hard to find a bypass valve.

you should be able to get a tool for removing large inside retaining rings and it will come apart.

I do believe that you can use a number of diffenet valves tough to replace it. I believe the Tail blow off valve works and I would think that the HKS SSQV would work do to its design.

retaining ring...lol thats the name of it .

When I went to the T-trim blower , I replaced the spring inside to a lighter one . I need to go to the bigger ByPass valve now though .

i thought bypass valves were different then blow of valves. Dont they work in reverse?

that retaining ring is huge!

and the 6-7 threads showing, that should be after the nut is tightened right?

Bypass valves and blowvalves are differnt. however, that does not mean that a blowoff valve with a pull type design such as the HKS SSQV or the synconic blowoff valve wouldn't work.

bypass valves usually have softer springs so that they'll be open under all vacuum conditions.... other than that, they serve the same purpose as a BOV. Since the SC is always spinning, the bypass valve needs to be open at all vacuum conditions to vent or bypass (depends on routing) the excess air being forced out of the blower.

I modded my Greddy RS BOV to single springs so that they upon up under vacuum only...... So,........I guess I have Greddy RS Bypass valves now.. I have no issues with them opening up under boost either. and they sound better than stock BOVs

I tried one spring in the greddy RS BOV and couldnt get it to work....hmmm. Maybe I used the stronger of the two springs .

yes...you do use the stronger of the 2 springs (keep the outer spring, take out the inner spring.)

This is why blowoff valves like the HKS SSQV and synchronic should work also. They are side pull valves and there for although they have a boost signal pushing them shut it is not really necessary because the boost pressure in the pipe is not pushing in the direction of valve travel like your typical blowoff valve.

With the HKS, would I need to remove a spring too to use it?
