I'm thinking about upgrading the UTEC to the HKS IS so I can monitor the car on my double din. I don't want gauges because they could get me in trouble here in CA.

My friend gets hassled alot by cops because of his gauges in his EVO. Theyre not illegal.. its just that it gives em the idea youre a racer or that you got some race parts. It sucks.
Once I was riding with him, CHP in a bike pulled us over for no reason, asked him to pop his hood and then let him go. Gave him a warning for the intake. Its a pain.
Anyway, back to thread. Im a member of Sam's club as well. But Im not FI... yet

Yep, CA is nutty when it comes to car mods. Like impound your car if they see N20 / aftermarket turbo or SC kit type of ****. Just one of the reasons why growing up there was fun - but I'd never move back...

I went through that whole riggamarole. Had to take my turbo system off (uninstall and detune performed at GTM, Sam was great!) and got inspected but you know what......

I didn't cry and whine (as ED 718 would have most people believe) but I was EXTREMELY angry not only because it simply happened but HOW it happened. I was in a restaurant about 150 feet away and my cars engine was cold. Cops broke into it.
It cost me a few bones but it didn't break my spirit. I had a dream or two about going to the police station and waiting for the a$$hole cop who gave me the ticket and doing you know what to him.
Whats amazing is I was fighting a speeding ticket (my first ever) at the same time so I felt as if the whole state was out to get me. I ended-up defeating the speeding ticket and I overcame the turbo situation so I think I am a stronger person because of it.
I just pray that I don't have the same happen to me again so I am taking more precautions.
Some people may say I'm silly for reinstalling but this is pretty-much my number 1 hobby and passion and I think that those people who capitulate have no heart and no *****. I mean, if I was to capitulate and never put the turbo back on, $6,000 worth of hardware, fabrication, labor and tuning would go to waste and I am NOT going to let that happen!
Blu (Defiant 'til the end....and then some!)
