OK boys.....I spoke with STS they quote the stock kit will max out at 550 crank HP at 15 psi with the standard turbo and 440 injectors. Anybody care to comment on the loss of low end grunt with the change over to low compression pistons? My dilema is two types of racing.....I AutoX 10 times/year and large track 8-10X/year. Kinda looking for the best of both worlds.....with an occasional drive on the public twisties. Input?

Thanks for the info. My budget is getting stretched out pretty far on this.....I will have to keep the 440's for now then switch them out when I go to GTM for the OSIRIS tune. GTM does offer a 9:1 ratio....and this might work out well for me since I don't plan to go over 12 psi....but I am a driver not a builder. In the end I am going to have to refer to GTM to set me up with the most reliable motor I can get for as hard as I run the car. Truth be told...If I make more power than I did (I would think that I would have to an extra 5psi and proper tune) I am good with the current turbo etc. I have a decent base to work with so I will run it as for now and play with my budget later. Thank you for all your help.

Oil in exhaust...
I made a separate thread about this but thought I would post it here as well for your input. I have only driven the car once since everything has been installed and never really gotten into boost. Today I idled my car to move it into my garage. I noticed oil in the exhaust. What is causing this? I did a boost leak test a few days ago, which yielded good results. Could have pressurizing the system somehow force oil into the exhaust? Another thing to note is that I am using an oil filter sandwich plate rather than the oil sensor tap STS includes. Could this be creating higher than normal oil pressures? Any input would greatly be appreciated. Pics are below.

That's brand new oil that just has been changed. I bought the kit used so the exhaust was pretty carbon coated to begin with. Maybe it mixed in with that. I have no idea how long the oil has sat there, I am guessing that oil has sat in there for a while; the last time I started it up was almost a week ago. It has rained the past few days, so perhaps water mixed in with it.

HKS EVC VI Issues....
I had my car tuned a few days ago. I installed the EVC but never really looked into setting it up since I thought my tuner would be able to do that all for me. However, the tuner was having problems getting the EVC to work right. The motor was unable to hold the desired boost levels. The controller would be set for 8.5 psi, but the turbo would only make 6.5-7.0 psi and gradually decrease.
How did you guys install the EVC? I tapped 62 yellow/red on the ecu for the rpm signal and 50 green for the throttle position sensor. Did you T a line from the compressor housing of the turbo to the boost reference line that runs from the wastegate and connects to the main vacuum line in the motor? Did you mount the boost controller actuator in the rear to be closer to the turbo?

/\ HKS is known to flap at low boost but it do hear some compressor surge. I was asking about the second video because it is the first time I hear a Bov flap like that with just a litttle rev (unless he's really using a light bov spring) and if it is a surge the it will be the first time I hear an STS getting a compressor surge with just a blip on the thottle. Heck I can rev my car all the way to redline all day and not hear my BOV flap nor get that kind of a compressor surge

Isnt there a tention adjuster on the HKS you can tighten for different vacuum? I definitely hear some kinda of surge but that second video really got me confuse. The STS is not a fast spooling turbo so I doubt it will get that kind of surge on such a low load. I do get a surge at 1-3psi below 3700rpm and above 3rd gear (never on 1st and 2nd gear). I remember him posting that his spool isnt great on 1st gear but got better with the TP. That is why I asked if he's building boost early on 1st gear.
