Hey do you have any pics of your boost solinoide installed on the car? Where did you put it and does water effect it? I put mine near the wastegate but the dam thing has rust and I think that is why it might not be working properly.

UPDATE: GTM built motor will be done and in the car next week......shooting for 12psi +/- with 440 injectors on the utec first and tunned with Osiris when I have some extra cash. I may rent some dyno time so I can give all the STS folk some base line numbers for this set-up. If anyone has any maps at 12 psi on the utec I can use for a starter I would be grateful. -Jim

Your current map is probably tuned up to 10psi so you already have a good base map and it is even better than a base map. You are using the same size injector so your tuner shouldn't have any problem making minor adjustment for 12 psi. I'm not sure though that the 440cc will hold that boost and still be on the safe side. I strongly suggest to go to at least 60-1 turbo because stock turbo is going to be blowing hot air around 14-16psi. PM goosegoose if he's still interested on selling his 60-1. Trust me goosegoose went through a lot with the 60-0 trim (stock turbo size) and that thing is just way small past 10psi. heck it is boarder line good at 8psi in my opinion...

OK...I'm lost, I'm a racer/driver that can wrench but turbo tune and speak for me is limited Help me understand 60-1 VS 60-0. AND, you think I will crap out at 10PSI???? If that's the case I'm bummed but will have to wait awhile as I blew the bank account on the build...plus new cd009 tranny. thanks- Jim
Here, I made a comparasson between the 60 trim and the 60-1.

CIN still sells them.. http://www.cinmotorsports.com/index.html
I just spoke with Bobby last week.
AthenG thanks for the link. Just trying to put some #s together and see where I want to go

Here, the post. https://my350z.com/forum/6560946-post1557.html
Ok did a little driving and I only get the flutter sound below 3700rpm. If I let go of the gas above 3700rpm then I get a nice clean BOV sound even at just 2psi (Not as loud as 5+psi though). I never really payed attention to it since it doesn't sound real bad and happen in very low boost and low load.
Edit:
Got bored so I tried see how efficient our turbo.. I used the formula from Corky Bell's book (Maximum Boost) and verified my numbers from http://www.squirrelpf.com/turbocalc/ turbo calculator.
First let us do some basic calculation. I have the entire lbs/min from 1-15psi but I'm just going to post the result for 10psi. I used 10psi coz I'm assuming we are loosing 2psi from all the pipings (could be more though..)
VQ35DE 3.5 liter
Look at the Compressor Map of the 60 trim and it's efficiency at 10psi. You guys can see we are well past its efficiency rate.
Here is a compressor map of a 60-1. You can see that it is within the efficiency range.

Goosegoose,
I believe you are running the 60-1 right? Can you give us some input on the spool performance compare to your old 60 O trim?
Here's your map at 17psi (probably 15psi on the manifold). You should see big difference compare to your old one. I think the turbo is good up to 17-18psi from the manifold.

Goosegoose is using the 60-1 trim and I hope he can chime in if the spool was better or worst. I know with the 60 O trim was just not enough and power die on the higher rpm even at just 14psi.

I have a spreadsheet I created that calculate how much CFM/LB you will need for our engine or you can use turbo calculator website like http://www.squirrelpf.com/turbocalc/. The bottom line is at around 12-14psi you need a turbo that can pump at least 50lbs/min or 25lbs/min if you have a twin turbo and still stay within the efficiency range within the compressor map. The 60trim wouldn't be able to pump that much at that psi and rpm. The 60 trim is just good up to 10psi but after that you may not see a dramatic power increase if you raise the boost..

WOW....Thank you VERY much for the info. This saves me alot of time and stress with my current set-up. I will stay at 10psi for now until I can upgrade the the turbo to the 60-1 (with ball bearing if available). This will prob work out well as I can get a good long break-in on the new motor...save some cash for turbo upgrade, injectors and osiris, and re-tune for max reliable HP and performance. Thanks again to the STS crew. -Jim

Looks like mine is already starting to fall out of it's efficiency range. Just had a new tune done w/ meth and at around 5800-5900rpms the power starts to fall off. I will post the dyno up when I have time.

What compression piston did you get? With a lower compression you will need to boost more than your last setup just to match your old power with a stock compression motor. I believe TegraRacer134 made 400whp at 10psi so with a lower compression expect a lower #. Good luck and hope you achieve your goals. PM Goosegoose because he went through a lot with the 60 trim so he can give you a better idea on what works and what dont...

My last tune was done in Feb 2008 and this one about two weeks ago. What was added this time, Aquamist 2D water meth injection, HKS-EVC 6 (full boost in 1st & 2nd), and a RFS stage 0.5.
Overall I’m happy with everything, car runs very smooth and strong with no hot start issues.
9psi The printer messed up where it starts to fall off.

I would have guessed higher HP and torque at 9 psi.....I am going to quit at 10psi until I have a better turbo set up.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not baggin your numbers......I just anticipated 390 to 400 +/- WHP with 9-10 psi. I'm a racer not a tuner so I really don't know what to expect.

those numbers are on par for a DD at 9 psi. John made like ~399whp on a dynojet and i think he was at 10psi. I think on these boards sometimes say the tune was at 9psi when it was really more like 9.9psi. No what I mean?
