do you have resonated or non resonated test pipes?
Goosegoose's car got louder when he did the heat wrap so he replaced the mid pipe resonator with this http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...ne=main&id=845
He said It really brought the noise levels down. It is also a straight-through muffler so it does not inhibit flow.
STS also tried to replace the mid pipe with a straight pipe and that made the car unbearable.
Edit:
It is really getting difficult to find information on this thread. I took the liberty to update the first page with some of the parts that current STS owner have used for others to use as a reference.

Heres a video of my car with non resonated test pipes, invidias, and I straight piped the OEM resoator that came from the factory mid pipe so it wasnt resonated at all. It is no longer like this but it was stupid loud. It got annoying after a few months.

hey ahsmo, I was looking at your dyno graph, and like atheng said it looks like the power comes on kinda late. Did they do the dyno pulls without heating up the turbo first? Thats kinda what it looks like from the graph.

we think it could be because he has the Nismo Y-pip, mid-pipe and Test Pipes... That is a lot of space to fill up. He's upgrading to an EBC so hopefully his spool will improve.

I need to find someone around my area to give me a hand. Maybe the exhaust shop that I go to will let me use their lift...The dance with the jackstands and that side pipe is really a pain in the ***.
That added pipe diameter(added cross sectional area) will slow the exhaust gases down which will factor into the total work which the turbine gets out of the exhaust gases. However, this really is not a large factor, the difference at 3500 rpm is negligible. The equation for work out of a turbine is more impacted by the energy in the exhaust gases which is why I am so concerned about controlling heat in the exhaust piping. Larger exhausts on the cold side of the turbine help people by reducing back pressure on the outlet of the turbine which increases the work the turbine gets out of the exhaust gases. Larger piping on the hot side of the turbine may increase horsepower by helping in scavaging exhaust gases out of the engine...allowing the engine to breath more.

Here is a video of my STS Z at an autoX. At the time I was running 4-5 lbs boost...now running 9 lbs at peak.

Yeah thats a cool video for sure. Nice driving. Post some info about your setup if you don't mind. Since there's only a handfull of us on here who have it we're always looking for more info!!!
Sorry for the delay. I'm running 9lbs a peak boost (4-5 in the video) with a manual boost controller. Mods include Light flywheel, 6 puck clutch and a tune. Gauges include Boost, AF wideband, and EGT (I track the car and AutoX quite a bit and like to know what the car is doing). Other mods are Hotchkis sways, Wilwood BBK (6 pot and 4 pot). I have recently added Koni with Eibachs and Forged NISMO's with RA1's (done after the video). No Dyno pulls yet....High cost for bragging rights and no good dyno's in my area.
