Default Creating an FI Budget.........

So I'm going to set up a budget for FI. Before I get started, I'm going to tell you I looked at the Stickies at the top of the FI section.

My goals are:

A very reliable setup of close up to or no more than 400HP @ maximum boost on a stock block.

I occasionally go to open track days @ Homestead Motor Speed Way and want to be able to get the most out of my car. I believe a good single setup will give me the edge I'm looking for.

As for my brakes, I have a stoptech Stage 2 upgrade for now. I'm planning on a BBK, that's why I'm trying to budget for FI like this. I want good brakes and a reliable Turbo setup that is cost effective.

I'm going to step up the car gradually. Eventually, in the distant future, I'd like to build up the internals. But, my car is not a daily driver and my budget is somewhat limited. I'm not broke, but I'm also not ready to spend 15-20K on my engine alone.

My idea:

A used single turbo setup (APS or TN). 3K-3500K
Engine Management (Utec)- 900
Injectors- 300-400
Fuel Return- 1K
Walbro-300 ( I think)
Oil Spacer - 100
BOV- 250 ( i would like the HKS Sequential)
Install- 1500-2000K
Gauges- 500-750 (With pillar

This puts me @ Close to 8500-9K.

Are my estimates correct and is my parts list accurate?

What are some recommendations from current FI owners?

Thanks guys.

oil spacers or a deeper oil pan usually come with a kit. add a few hundred for the return fuel system install. walbro is only 100. high impedance injectors (for use w/ UTEC) will be around 600 for new ones. utec + tuner (wideband) will run closer to 1100-1200. I'd check out the Greddy "staged" packages that Sharif@Forged offers for a better package deal that'll come very close I think to your used kit total.

Thumbs up

Hey, looks good so far.
You’re going to need a Clutch. I recommend the JWT Clutch and not to get a Lighted Flywheel.
And if you need injectors, I have a set of 440cc, never installed and for a lot less than $300-$400 (their at Factory Performance. I'm picking them up when I get my car this Sunday.)

Since you live in Florida, try giving Performance Factory a call. They can get you EVERYTHING on your List (maybe not the used Turbo Kit) and GREAT PRICES!!!

On an N/A car a lightened flywheel would be great or if you are going to track the car.
A heavier or stock flywheel would not only be easier to drive daily but in-between shift the RPMs don't drop as fast. Keeps the boost and RPMs higher during shifts, Very popular with the supra crowd.

I'm sort of biased. Not to mention you almost need a stage 3 or 4 kit to reach 400HP. At least from what I've seen. Don't quote me. I'm probably wrong.

Your only talking Stillen when you say stage 4.. Vortech and ATI put out some decent numbers 400+ with only upgraded pulleys and some other fuel additions..

Of all those things you listed, why not start off with a BRAND NEW STS rear mount for $5500, which includes most of the crap you're talking about and is an easier install

i never thought of that. my only worry is that the roads in miami suck. speed bumps everywhere and ditches. i'd be afraid of hitting something.
