Default Dissapointing Tune

Horrible day today :P My car is back up on jack stands.

...I got my car running last night and I took it to the tuner today. He is mainly a WRX/STI tuner but he has tuned a few 350z's and is quite reputable in the seattle area.. everyone recommended him to me... well... things didnt quite turn out how I expected. On my aps TT he only could tune it to hold 6psi... the wastegate springs would only hold 4.5Ib's and he couldnt figure out how to get the HKS EVC to work past 6psi ...

My results you ask?
313RWHP!!
298TQ!!

Wtf!!! Horrible...

Then, on the way home I noticed a strange ticking noise.. detonation perhaps? Sounds like bb's in a pop can. No knock was detect on the UTEC dashboard hooked up to my laptop... It still ticks when im idling here in my garage

Anyways, before I got home I stopped to get something to eat. After I got back in my car, when I started it up it was vibrating like crazy seemed like from under the seat! No idea what it is.. when I reved it up it became a little smoother but it really didnt seem like it was coming from the motor.. I looked on my laptop and the utec still wasnt picking up any knock... still not sure what it was..

Anyways... my buddy and I are going to try and diagnose some problems.

My gauges dont work either.. and now my steering wheel audio controls dont work... if anyone happens to know where the connection to that is can you please help me out. I cant find anything in the FSM about where it is located.

I guess I should have saw these problems coming

Either way... i got to boost for a little bit.. even at 6 pounds it isnt too slow.

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated!!

check for melted wires, blown fuses, and boost leaks

Let me try to answer all the questions and thank you for your support:

Tommorow I will check for melted wires, one of the mechanics at the shop where I had it tuned mentioned he thought he heard an exhaust leak so I will check that out tommorow as well. I dont think an exhaust leak would prevent it from holding boost unless it was pre-turbo correct? ie. exhaust mani

Yes I installed it myself,

Exhaust is Invidia g200... its only dual 2" piping but the total pipe area is more flow then the stock exhaust, which is basically just a 2.5". On the stock exhaust the APS TT kit dynoed at 399rwhp I believe on the aps site at 8Ib boost.

Yea I suppose im faster then stock but I still think the tuner ****ed up my tune because its idling lean and seems to be detonating or some **** while driving. I thought tuning was tuning and it just varied slightly for each car but I guess not? What kind of tuner has never used an HKS EVC 6, arent they one of the best boost controllers? At least thats what Sharif said and I trust his word more then any tuner in WA i bet.

I dont believe that Worldone does tuning, but correct me if im wrong

I have another question that perhaps you can answer, so if the springs only hold 4.5Ib by themselves, is it realistic that the HKS EVC 6 can hold 8 Ib boost? Might be a stupid question, not familiar with the HKS EVC 6.

Why don't you PM Colin (cersoft) who tuned his own G35 built GReddy Twin Turbo. Are you tuning with UTEC? If so he can probably help you. You can probably figure something out with him . . ..

seriously... tuned correctly lol.. **** man I hope that tuner will give me a refund or retune.. maybe not a retune.

Does 4.5Ib of boost sound too low for those Garrett Actuators? I heard they dont produce much

You shoulda drove to Forged Peformance for the tune.. Nevamind its 37hrs away.. GTM is prob closer.. But seriously, try to reset your ECU because I dont see how he could **** up your idle with the utec.. being how it only takes over in boost..

Not saying you did a bad install or not . But you took your car to a shop and asked for a tune . If there was something wrong that prevented him from giving you a good tune . Dont blame him . Just trying to point out that possible problems might not be where you think .

Not liking the ticking noise. All fluids ok? All gauges read ok? Oil pressure, a/f ratio? If you don't have Cipher/Osiris, I would consider getting it just for the diagnostics...

The ticking...since you mentioned it at idle, is probably an exhaust leak. The vibration is probably some part of the kit, or your exhaust, rubbing against the chassis. It definately is a lot harder to install these kits than it looks.

Ill keep you guys posted on what I find tonight, im hoping that it is an exhaust leak and not something worse... same with the exhaust rubbing against the chassis I hope its that too.

Thanks for the advice.
