One of our customers from the Cayman Islands sent us this Nissan V35 Skyline… But is it live, or is it Memorex???

Pretty sweet fog lights and lip too, n’est-ce pas?

He imported it from Japan to the Caymans, then had it shipped to Miami, where it was then put on a car hauler and sent to us. The Syclone next to it was gracious enough to show it some “old-school domestic turbo lovin’” while the Syclone was still here. “Arrigatou Gozaimasu!”

Talk about role reversal – an AWD domestic turbo PICKUP TRUCK next to a rear-drive non-turbo Skyline! Como se dice’ “WTF?” LOL…

Personally, I think they should have used those seats on the Infinitis too as they are _really_ nice looking. They have suede inserts where your legs and derriere are as you can see, but they also have that same suede in the center between the bolsters on the front AND rear seats. Nice. They are also little cooler for the Texas heat as well. That is a factory Momo steering wheel too…

WHY can we not get all of the cool Japanese wheels here!?! Can you say “caliper clearance???” I knew you could!

As you have probably guessed by now, the customer did not go to the expense of shipping the car to us for an oil change! We have a HUGE project on our hands for the next few months with this one as he is going B I G .

Stay tuned! (literally! Because the alternative sucks!)
Bigger then mine?

Syclone > *

I think GMC's endeavor back in 1991 was revolutionary with regards to the Syclone. Having one in my driveway is on the to-do list for next year.

Syclone (GMC S-15 pickup)was in production from 91-92.

Typhoon (GMC Jimmy) was in production from 92-93.

The Syclones were about 500 pounds lighter than the Typhoon, which made them alot quicker than the typhoon.....13.2 vs. 14.0.

I had an all Black '93 Typhoon. The '93 Typhoon was the nicest of all sysclone and Typhoons. GMC made updates to the interior, but other than that power and drivetrains were the same from year to year.

Engine was a GM 4.3 V6 with a single turbo and air-liquid interooler connected to a 4 Speed Auto trans with AWD. Torque split was 65/35 rear/front. Power was something like 285 Hp / 360 Tq.

the problem with the AWD turbo trucks is the weak auto tranny that they had in them, those were very fun to drive though.

cool idea.... still a chevy!!

Weak? They were running a 4L60E or 4L80E, same as what was in the old F-bodies at the time - thought those were fairly tough

i just remember that those trucks seemed like the tranny was killing them.

i meant weak gearing though.

maybe it was the gearing in the rear diff that did it... it was a long time ago

those chevy trannies were bulletproof! and the gearing was really strong through the 1st 2 gears, but then it really felt like aerodynamic drag took over. the 0-60 was nasty in those trucks!!!

actually, my typhoon felt very similar to my Explorer Limited. It had a 302 (5.0), a fulltime AWD system, and I put a 125 dry shot on top! The explorer would launch nasty hard. 1.8 60 foot times at the track and it would chirp all 4 tires, but would die on the top end only running 14.2.

They run the 4l60e and lemme tell you from experience with my AWD SSS...The tranny is weak when putting the power down with AWD. Before the truck was 6 months old it had its tranny replaced, then a built 60 went on it and before my incadent last week it started getting where it wouldn't shift gears or get stuck in 2nd until I shut it off. Speed engineering finally has a kit out to run the 4l80 and retain your AWD.
