Default New EMS for 350Z

http://www.supraforums.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=454129

I know this should be in the ECU section but more Z owners check this part of the forums out and so I posted it here. This new EMS coming out is being developed by EFI Pro and Jason Siebels who was the head of the AEM EMS. Seems like a lot of the Supra tuners are getting pumped about it especially Sound Performance and if you look on post #37 you see that Larry from SP says it will be out for the 350z.

Hey Larry can we get some more info about this EMS specific to the 350z. Will it be able to work on the 07 350z or the 07 G37 and control the VVEL?

Wow this seems like it will be a great unit. Just hoping there will be a tuner nearby.

I'm subscribed. I plan on buying an AEM EMS soon, but might hold out to see how this one compares as far as features & price.

Finishing the last page now. I like that it will be a full standalone unit.

The unit looks really good, but... between the current choices of:

1. Osiris ($700, NA w/ multiple tunes via e-mail, comes w/ CIPHER diagnostics)
2. UTEC ($900, user tuneable, good for FI to 500 hp w/ current firmware)
3. Haltech ($2300, user tuneable, good for high hp+custom controls)
4. FCON Vpro ($3000+, locked, good for high hp+custom controls)

Where will this unit find it's niche in the market by the time it gets to market? More choices are always good for the consumer though!

You gotta love the aftermarket support for our cars.

Well being that it's not fully locked makes it nice to be able to adjust some of the parameters, and your tuner can lock and unlock certain features depending on how knowledgeable he feels you are. You have to remember this isn't a piggyback system, and that I think will say a lot for this system.

If the unit does what they say it can do....at $2300 to $2500 every thing included . It pretty much takes the lead on EMS's . Only time will tell if its everything they say it is .

Wow.....sounds impressive....

It is good to see good EMS's coming out for this platform, and reasonably priced. Now...it's all up to the robustness of the software and the reliability of the system, we all know that that's what it's all about. So far, sounds promising.

and thats something they have clearly pointed out its where the strengths lie in this newer system... quite a luxury supra owners get to have it first...but we will get to use it "relatively soon" too

With all due respect to ProEFI, robustness and reliability imho cannot be expected at the first release of the software, and that's what it looks like will be happening. They are tweaking the software for a 4-6week release timeframe. I know it has been in testing on a few cars, but I just would not expect it to be rock-solid.

It's good to know that the hardware is of good quality, and teh number of inputs is bewildering. But the capability is 80% dependent on software... so it remains to be seen.

I do still think it's going to be a VERY competitive product, but it remains to be seen...very promising. Stoked that a bunch of EMS choices are FINALLY here.

Isn't the Haltech unit really still in beta testing? I've heard that there are alot of little things to work out with it.
