You gotta love the aftermarket support for our cars.

5. MoTeC M600 ($4500 for parts, labor extra, user tunable, ultimate in flexibility/ reliability/control)

User Tunable version of Osiris, will be around 1000$ give or take I think. Unlimited tunability, relibility as it rewrites the code to the stock ecu. Cam control. On the fly tuning unless you adjust the big stuff like your cams, then you have to do a reflash. Once its released there will be no need for a utec/fcon piggyback/standalone or whatever.

So for FI, you could just run a larger MAF, right?

You can run a larger MAF and Injectors. The resolution is the same as the stock ecu. It has way more than enough for forced induction. Ill be using it when I turbo my car. A 12x12 table is more than enough for 90% of peoples needs. The increased resolution is just hype.

Shouldnt these be added to choice list? Plenty of people using them with good results..

Well those are all really sub-par compared to current choices which beat them in price and features. Who would buy a piggyback now when you can either get standalone at load (UTEC) or stock ECU control (Osiris).

The one last EMS to add, which is a piggyback, but notable because of the termendous resolution and features is probably the FCON iS.

Not a bad list...

With a MAF sensor that can meter that much air coming in the engine.

well this should be in a different category because its build and created to be better than vpro and a much more features than vpro....plus both are standalones...so they should be in a separate list than emanage unichip or utec or...,..other ems of that kind

actually there should be two lists:

- one should consist of the hydra and this new proefi unit, since both aren't available to the public

- the other consists of EMS you can actually get your hands on

so as far as STANDALONE goes for forced induction we have....

Osiris $1000
Hydra $1950
Haltech $2300
HKS vpro $3000
Motec m600 $4500
EFI Pro
COBB Access port ??

is that right? or is there more to the list?

Not sure you can count the Osiris as "standalone". If you do, you gotta count the UTEC also, since it is "standalone" above a threshold that you can set. In particular w/ a UTEC + Osiris, you have quite good control for FI w/o replacing the MAF (using MAP).

I don't think the Cobb access port is available yet either... Gurgen's list above is where things stand today.

The Fcon price at 3k includes installation and tuning, not sure the others listed include this.

12x12 is crap and higher resolution is not a hype, 12x12 will leave you with a very rough map trying to take care of many load points in small space, probably ok if tuning for 6 psi.

Good point on the installation and tuning, but when you throw in the knock amp, it's going to end up being a lot more. If you add sensors it is going to be A LOT more with labor.

In regards to resolution, I agree. My initial plan was to use Osiris to tune the lower load points and use the UTEC for the higher load points, effectively doubling the resolution. That said, when the opportunity arose to move to the Haltech, I jumped on it.

If you add sensors with the Navigator and Knock amp you also won't have to get gauges or a wideband so those costs will wash out.

^ Guess that's true because there is labor involved with the gauge sender units also. If I were getting the FCON, I'd want the knock amp and the navigator w/ at least wideband feedback. I'm not sure what the installed price of that is. I am also not certain why HKS chose to ignore the option of using the stock knock sensor and stock dual wideband sensors present on all 2004.5+ vehicles (maybe to be universally compatible?). That said, I'm sure they had their reasons and designed it better than OEM. Not inexpensive all said and done though. Not that that seems to have stopped me from buying anything else though so I don't know why I'm even posting this now that I think about it...

Are you serious? Running a built engine with low compression NA, then your gonna skimp on EM!? Say hello to part throttle hiccups all day long with anything above 7-8psi and resolution like that. There is a difference bewteen trying to save $$$, and doing things right...

as far as the knock amp there really isn't any more labor costs as it is only two wires IIRC that get wired to the ECU and the a/f sensor (which you would pay labor on with a wideband anyway). The a/f display plugs in like a telephone jack so no labor there.

With the Navigator you can add boost, water temp, oil temp, oil pressure, and EGT sensors.
