Any luck locating the source? The bracket vib could be energy going into it from the source..

Interesting how these bearings are failing on a consistent basis for Vortechs. Mine had less than 3k miles on it when I had to replace it.

Also, did you watch the third video in my links? Our startups sound similar. I didnt rev mine much. Did you happen to drive with yours any?

They want you to send the unit back to them for analysis. Just order the two bearings and replace it yourself. I didn't want to wait for them to get it, analyze it and send it back to me. Probably 2-3 week minimum. I posted up a link to a semi-DIY a while ago, but the install is straight forward if you look at it. Just remove the bolts surrounding the jackshaft and take it out.

One thing tho, my system gets real quite if you take the cog belt off. I figure its because the bearings are under minimal load. The guy from g35 mentions there was still a noise.

Video 2 from my first post is with the cog off. Nice and quiet

Ah, so it still could be the jackshaft.

Any pics of your old bearings? He said the oil turned to a sludge, id like to see some pics of that up close.

the ones in the cog pulley. Its the jackshaft, the only shaft that has a 6rib pulley on one side of the bracket and the cog pulley on the other side.

so if i replace the cog pulley it will come with the bearings or will i have to order that seperately? Or is the cog pulley ok and only the bearing in the jackshaft needs to be replace. WHere did u purchase yours from?

Just to be clear... is it the cog pulley that u replaced or is it the one next to it that's smooth?

Sounds to me like the bearings in the actual supercharger housing has gone out. This just happened to me a couple days ago with only 300 miles on the kit . That screeching noise is the turbine wheel rubbing on the compressor housing. I bet if you take off the filter you can see the scoring from the wheel on the housing. I removed my supercharger yesterday and will be sending it to vortech tomorrow to be repaired under warranty. I guess this is just a part of the FI game . Let me know if you have any questions.

Yeah, I saw G35Asian's blower and when you turn the pulley on the back end you could hear the metal scraping and the bearings rattling around in the blower itself... I can't believe that happened after 300 miles... I have 40K on my blower and she has been a tank!

I would check your blower as well before just getting into the jackshaft bearings.

Yeah, once you remove the cog belt, spin the cog pulley on the supercharger itself and listen for any noises. It should spin freely with no noises. If not, then your supercharger went out like mine .

I think youre right, sadly. My vortech made noises from day one, i even spun it a bit before i installed it.

Well, i went out and pulled the filter off and sure enough, the blades have some deformation on the tips and i could see from scrapped metal on the housing. Looks like ive got to send it back to vortech. I think this might have been a day one issue.

I still believe my bearings went out as well, they make the same noise as the other guys video.

What was your turn around time?

Thanks matt for the offer! Ill pm ya.
