Default Procharger Noise Help

i just finish installing the Procharger on my 03 G35 auto sedan. when i started it up, it whines pretty loud at idle! is that normal? i've been driving a couple of days and everything fine. boost is there and car pulls pretty hard, but its loud, very loud. since i've never hear how a Procharger sounds like on G35, so i would not know or have something to compare with. i bought the kit Procharger kit used, but the supercharger itself was never run on. if its really that noisy, i'm thinking of getting rid of it and go turbo instead. any opinions or comments, or a video/sound clip would help. thanks in advance.

i could almost say that it is almost deafing to the ears with the hood open. on a scale 1-10, how would rate the noise? 10 being darn loud!

Like 6 but its new to you so it would be exaggerated as 10.. BTW what made you do the reverse belt install on the tensioner pulley??

Jay'Z, do you still have your Procharger and does your have a K&N filter install on the inlet side? it only sounds common sense to install it that way. why run a cog belt (rough side) to a smooth pully.

Yes, It installs on the inlet side of the black plastic intake.... I use an extra huge K&N though.. So we have diff filters.. I use RE0920, you prob could use the same but it takes alot of fabrication/dremeling..

I know its the right way to install the cog belt.. but the instructions have a different pic.. I run it the same way you did..

actually, i don't have filter or anything in on the inlet side. the only filter is the inline one that goes after the intercooler which came with the kit. i can't put any thing on the inlet side because it is right in front of the freon lines and has only about 1 or 2" of room. any rocks or pebbles gets in there, bye bye procharger!! maybe thats why it so loud. maybe of both, whinning and air suction noise. like i said, i bought this kit used which was on a G35 coupe.

I dont understand how you couldnt install a filter on the inlet.. Id have to see pics.. But I would NOT drive without an intake filter STOP THE MADNESS pls..

Post more pics and closeups of your engine bay pls.. I looked at your pic closely and there isnt a Serial # tag on it.. Did you remove it??

no, i didn't remove it. maybe it was stolen . i don't know, i bought it like that. i thought that is normal on some of the kit, otherwise why you they give you a inline air filter to install right after the intercooler. i've seen couple of guys selling the procharger like that with the inline filter which kind of looks like a GSXR stock exhaust but smaller size. if you look closely, you see there is no room. there is only a net that is cramp on around the inlet side.

Your right.. It does install that way.. I would have to research the Vortech.. But your definately going to be louder than me with only a screen.. That screen is pretty ****ty too.. Looks like the mesh isnt really small.. That blue Tag has the Serial # on it.. Thats what i was referring to earlier.. Looks like someone did steal it..

Check out my pic.. Below the APR CF plate you can see the tip of the K&N filter.. Also you can see the intake going through the bumper..

i know that the 350z frame and some minor plumbing is different from the G35. like i think, correct me if i'm wrong, the g35 have a a/c fan on the driver side which the 350z don't. plus the g35 have freons lines near the strut brace area. FIY, i had to remove my clutch fan in order to mount the supercharge bracket. the coupe don't have a clutch fan. i did not know this before i bought kit. i guess, i didn't do my homework enough.

Hi guys, for anyone who has a procharged z...did you guys have any problems with the air inlet tube causing the hood not to close properly? I have my inlet tube setup like everyone else's going through the the hole for the intake and the hard plastick tube along with the hose is getting in the way of the front bumper and hood.

That's installed WRONG

The cog belt goes over the pull to keep it tight... that might be a major issue.. someone didnt read the book
