Default JWT TT/Split second box issue

Since I have had my JWT TT kit installed with the Split second box. My car throws a code. It says the left bank cam angle sensor if NFG. So I replaced both cam angle sensors it still throws the code? Any ideas what the problem is? My installer seems to think its not an issue but it is annoying. Also the car takes a few extra seconds to start it cranks for a few seconds prior to starting. I belive this is because the ECU trys to find the cam angles prior to starting the car when it cant find the cam angle it reverts to the crank for orientation. Any help with this would be greatly apreciated.

I had the same problems in the begining with JWT. Hard to start when hot and all kind of codes, slip...etc. The Fcon and reflashing the Ecu took care of the problems.

No rev up sorry for lack of Vehicle info its a 2003 G35. It dosent matter hot or cold it is always the same. A few times it hasnt started until the third or fourth try. The car cranks for a good 15-20sec prior to starting.

I throw a crank angle sensor code every now and then when the car bakes in the sun for a while, no one has been able to figure it out.

Similar I guess, but not really. If anyone has a solution to that, let me know..sorry to hijack the thread.

It is most likely that the factory Ecu is unable to to sync the cams to the crank, that is why it has the extended crank. After certain engine revolutions without seeing a cam signal it will fire the engine in default mode and it will throw a check engine light. it definetly sounds that you have a wiring issue, simple way to confirm is to eliminate the split second box, if the car fires up and the code goes away, then you will know for sure.

It is an issue despite what your installer is telling you, with any cam codes present, your cam phasing will not work and it will cause a major torque/horse power loss.

The same post above also applies to your situation as well. The problem is solveable if you need help doing so, you aren't TOO far away, bring it in and we can check it out for you.

^I agree it is most likely a wiring issue, but why ONLY when the car sits in the sun?

heat affects resistance (increases it), so maybe it's a poor solder joint or a failing or off-spec electronic component in the SS box... PITA to double check all of those w/o a PNP harness! Good luck.

I just sprung out some money to get utec and retuned. I ran on the split second box for a year. never really had any problems with it but this summer I was running pig rich and my car felt slower then N/A stock Z so Im tossing the SS box and trying utec.

So wiring could be the culprit. I was thinking of going with uprev instead of the SS box this would save me chasing down wiring issues would that be a good upgrade or should I look other forms of engine managment or just get the issue at hand taken care of and stick with the SS box?

To the OP... Did you check the connection at the SS box for the cam angle sensor wire? Hopefully its that simple for you.

Cam input and output wires were reversed. Now the car starts like a dream and it feels like I picked up some more power. Thanks for the help guys.

After two months of problem free boosting with the JWT TT kit I just got the following SESL code today. My car threw a "R0240 & R230 code ; " catalyst efficiency below threshold...." WTF!!!??? I wonder if this is a SS box issue??

You could have a secondary o2 sensor that has gone bad.
