Ok first off i have to say this site is the most handy tool in the world....thanks to everyone that pitches in. So on to the problem i have drove my Z and done many oil changes on it for quite some time, so why this comes up now idk? But i was doing the normal oil change on it 5 quarts and a filter, changed the procharger oil. had it all ready for the show next week now i can't go.... I drove it to work a day before the show and all of a sudden when i get ready to leave for lunch i started it and smoke started pouring out the exaust white smoke, and then it quit hasn't done it again since then and now my oil pressure is running 120 when i get on it to boost. and also high at idel. So i figure okay maybe the sending unit went bad, but that doesn't explain why the smoke poured out of the exaust hardcore for like 4 min and then cleared up? no cel no anything out of the ordinary except that oil pressure? Any suggestions? Was it a cat maybe>? or bad plugs? to rich? it is spitting black specs on the ground when i rev it.

 

i would like to know about the black soot it spits on the ground also, mine does it at idle

 

May car does it also. Did it with my old set up and does it with my new set up. Very normal, I belive its built up condensation inside the pipes (I maybe wrong).

 

my guess is that your headgaskets are toast. The smoke pouring out the exhaust is coolant. You are seeing high oil pressure because of the coolant being mixed with the oil which has added too your oil level.

drop your oil again and see if it is milky

that basically = a full rebuild; so thousands of dollars
A lot of labor. Motor needs to be pulled, all timing components, heads and cams need to be removed. Heads checked and most likely machined, block checked for straightness, and on and on

First make sure you know what the problem is before worrying about how much it's going to cost

white smoke is definitely coolant, I'd say it's a blown headgasket

Water will drop oil pressure. thicker oil increased oil pressure because its harder to push through the oil galleries.

headgaskets dont just decide to leak and then unleak. If a headgasket was blown and causing smoking, the smoke will not stop. As the engine warms up, the clearences increase (in terms of gasket leaks) and more smoke will appear.

My guess is possibly a pro-charger related issue. u may have used the wrong oil/diff oil and cold oil = higher then normal oil pressure = oil in exhaust and slight white smoking.

Do u have any other symptoms? Anything unusual during the oil change? High oil pressure would mean u used a fairly thick oil.. thicker then normal?

 

black soot is condensation/fuel + carbon deposits blown from the exhaust. usually during startup. nothing to be worried about.

 

I've had fuel come out as white smoke - when my injectors were stuck open on one bank due to a faulty utec. Just giving you some hope. The rising oil pressure doesn't sound good...
