so yesterday i leakdown tested my engine to make sure after, i dunno, maybe 20K on this engine that its still in good enough shape to turn up the boost. i just put in tighter wastegate springs and im gonna crank her up a few psi or more. this thing has been ROCK solid reliable at 14.5psi for a long time now, and this last week was the first time i have worked on it since i put it together. i did the SGP 3" pipes, open dumps, wastegate springs, changed the plugs, and setup the rear for drag racing (still waiting on getting the suspension tuned by this local shop).
anyhow, my leakdown was at 6% with 2 cylinders at 8%. So I was pretty damn happy. I have seen better, but not with this tester on a VQ engine, even my stock engine before i boosted it was at 6% IIRC.
so last night im taking this girl for a ride, we put gas it, then on the way to get some food im on an open 4 lane road and rip it thru 1st 2nd 3rd. just as i let off third i see something out of the corner of my eye.... i look down, red oil light... forget the little oil spout icon, it might as well just say "you just lost 10 grrr".
i instantly shut it down and coast onto the shoulder. put the hood and look around. check the dipstick, it has oil. glance under it, no signs of a pressure leak. so now its either a broken oil pump or a bad sensor. being like 3am i was like, hell with it, its either already screwed or its fine, and i dont wanna try and get this car on a flatbed. so i fire it back up and listen. everything sounds great.... (the VQ sounds terrible with no oil pressure, as most of us have heard it after you do an oil change as the first 2 seconds or so it doesnt have pressure). i noticed my oil temp gauge is reading normal so oil must be passing over it.
so i drive it home about 10 min, probably less... pull it in and pop the hood and get a good look at it. my power steering belt was starting to shred, and a part of it that was shredded off was wacking my oil pressure sensor wires and pulled them out of the connector!!!
phew. i nearly had a heart attack at the thought of all the work i was gonna have to go thru before driving the car again if it had really lost oil pressure.
18-20psi here i come.

glad is wasnt bad !
Simular thing happened to me yesterday also . Did a logging run in 3rd [AT5] and got to what I thought was 6800rpm and let off . I then hear a strange ticking or simular sound . Was just 6 blocks from home so I just drove it home . On the way I smell a nasty rubber smell . Pull in the driveway and see smoke coming from under the hood . Pop it open to see I just spun the teeth off the blower belt and the smell was that rubber on the header . WHEW !!

Glad y'all and the engine were OK. That was a terrible scare.
I'll mention my own oil scare while I'm at it... I had the oil changed a couple weeks ago. The next morning, I drove hard to work (running late), and when I got out of my car in our parking lot, light-blue smoke was coming out from under my hood. I first thought cr@p, I must have lost the drain plug between home and work. I gingerly opened the hood, let the smoke clear, and then spotted the dipstick... hanging loose in the engine bay BESIDE the dipstick port. I do not know what kept it from falling down on the road. Some oil (not much) had sloshed out on the side of the block to cause the light smoke. I checked the oil (OK) and replaced the dipstick properly. Then I scraped my underwear. No real harm done. Sheesh!
