Relentless Autosports is NOT VRT, the way it all went down
(moderators, this is not a buisness plug, rather a explanation)
I feel as if I need to write this out for anyone that is still trying to lump Relentless Autosports, Mark, or me personally in with the way that company ended up being.
My VRT story for those that do not know the way it all started..........
Before VRT was started I was approached by Mr A to drive his lightly moded SC'ed 350Z roadster at Willow Springs for him so that I could give him some feedback on how to improve on it. I was introduced to him by his brother and sister whom I have known for years (and are nothing like him). This was in late '03 and was in one of the first roadsters to land in the country. The test went surprisingly well and although there was room for improvement, I was a little impressed with the platform of the Z.
Mr. A then aproached me with all his charm and negotiated with me to help him to develop his car more and we proceeded from there. At this time Mark B was the head service Master Tech mechanic that was performing the bolt ons at the dealership where Mr A serviced his car.
Mr A then saw how popular these cars were starting to get and wanted me to start a company with him that built G35's and 350Z's for track and street. We approached Mark B about this and that is when we found out just how awesome and connected Mark really was. Mark has worked beside Jim Wolf for many years on several Z31 and Z32 projects and had a very tight relationship with JWT. Mark is known for building (among many others) some of the very best FI'ed Nissan motors and is involved in several land speed assoc. records, and is known throughout the country on his 300ZX builds along with several other cars.
Mark started working for us part time and was reluctant to join us full time at first, but the pursuasive ways of Mr. along with some failed attempts by Mr A to have work done with/by other shops, were finally enough for Mark to quit his career being in charge of all the technicians at 6 Nissan dealerships to come work for VRT full time.
Things went pretty good for a while. We made some very solid track cars with some very solid numbers. There was no BS about the work that was done for the first two years or so. With the help of Mark, JWT had us prototype some of the first JWT TT kits on our cars with great success. We build A LOT of cars and TT'ed most of them through '04-'06. We were also the first to try out the first 700BB upgrade, and DID make huge power with it (just ask some of the 500+ people who saw the Gray G get dynoed at Stillen days) A lot of this work was being performed on the lower section of Mr A's house where there was a 6+ car gaurage and a huge covered car port with a lift. After a while we did out grow the house and moved into a real purpose built shop with a few lifts, a clean motor room, etc.
After a while some seemingly financial woes set in on a record label and the real estate company that Mr A owned. Since VRT was sort of started for a tax deduction for Mr A and a way to justify the car building hobby he did not need (at the time) to actually draw too much of an income from VRT as he made great money from his other companies. IMO, this is where it all started going bad. He seemed to be playing a bigger role in VRT and taking more control in it. He started cutting corners as much as he could, he started shorting Mark on his promised hourly work, starting hiring very cheap and questionable labor mechanics to perform the work that was way over their heads, starting taking sales away from me, etc. After seeing what was starting to go on, I knew we needed to get out of there before everything came falling down and started reflecting on me. I had several heated discussions with Mr A and everything always seemed to go right back to this, so I hate to just give up on a company that I spent alot of time, effort, blood, sweat and tears on and walk away, but I saw what was about to go on and just had to. From there it all got A LOT worse as you could imagine, just read some of the horror stories.
I hate to see a company with so much potential and the talent go to crap, but that is exactly what happened after we left. I tried to save it, help it, and even warn people. I consulted with my lawyer on all this, and that is all I could have done without being sued for slander.
I hope this helps clear up some of this mess about my company, Me, Mark, or even JWT for that matter being unjustly lumped in with that company, We simply do not deserve that.
As for Relentless Autosports LLC (not a plug moderators, just a clarification), I started this company with Mark and we are continueing our relationship with JWT and they have been great to us. Yes, this company is legit, I have gone through all the crazy california rules/laws/zoneing, etc. Although the company is new, there is no shortage of talent. We are looking to expand soon, and get a better shop than our temperay location as time and finances will alow. We have done quite a few cars this year and they are all around and running (except my G ) great. I come from a long line of very successful and honest buisness owners. My father has an automotive brake shop that specializes in rebuilding all types a master cylinder, caliper, booster, is ABS specialist, and is the California State Automotive board brake expert.... My Aunt is the Western United States general Manager for the Chevrolet brand of cars for GM.....just examples.
I am in no way going to, nor have I ever ripped anyone off or performed any work for anybody that is not solid and repuatable.
Thank you.

In no way shape or form does Relentless Autosports do business like Mr. A and VRT.
It's unfortunate that Scott and Mark have the stigma of being associated with VRT and Mr. A's shenanigans. Therefore, people imply guilt by association. From my perspective though, Scott and Mark got out to clear their name and stay clear of VRT. The way they deal with their clients and are thorough in their service efforts demonstrate this?
I mean seriously, how stupid are you going to be to keep up the shady tactics of your former company when you're starting a new company.
You are all entitled to your own opinions, but they are just opinions. Most of you have not dealt with either companies and just base your opinons on heresay. I have done business as a client for both companies, and trust me, there is a completely different approach and mentality with both companies. Day and Night difference.
Peace.

thumbs down. what the hell does this have to do with FI, shouldn't this be in the off topic forum? seems like the other thread is hurting a bit... a few grand isn't worth a business' livelihood, imho RA is the bastard child of VRT

cool.
but what resolution do you want? the engine is in someone's car! lol, it will be dynoed right after sema and it can be judged then I guess.
the spec sheet did not come with the motor but was faxed when requested by the customer, from what I remember, from Noah... not RA. and just to again reiterate this point: Sharif already knew the deal with the build sheet, as noah and the customer (pete/bc) explained so really the issues that Sharif had with the build, that Scott addressed to his level of comfort, were about what stock components were used and one other question that he posed directly to scott.
