Default need advices on 2 exhaust system...

Hi there !

I'm actually between two cat back system... any opinion will be appreciated !

My XO2 cat back did no resist of the exhaust gaz heat generated by the Vortech... the inside of the muffler is apart... so the china stock did no resist very long... maybe 1 month...

anyway !

I'm hesitating between the Borla cat back system at 950$ shipped:

and the Skunk2 cat back system at 765$:

here is a sound clip of the skunk 2:

both stainless true dual with 2.36" OD....both great product...

thanks for your time !

for sure Borla is a great cat back for FI application... but I think I will give a chance to the skunk2 system... and I think I will be the first to use it with a FI application...

Have it welded. Slip fit with band clamps sucks on any exhaust system!

The skunk 2 needs a balance tube. Skunk2 must not know much about "V" engines. It was realized al ong time ago that a balance tube (either an h-pipe or X-pipe) makes more power. Hell, Ford has even been using a balance tube on Mustangs exhausts for about 20 years.

+1^
I've tested prototype systems that didn't have an X,Y or H and they didn't do as well as the systems that did have some sort of merge point.

And in addition to merging, because the OP has FI, I wouldn't suggest either of these exhausts. Or at least not the skunk.

Borla is dual 2.25" which is great for NA but is somewhat questionable for FI.
I understand the Skunk is even smaller than 2.25".

-----

OP,
Research systems with at least dual 2.25" pipes (or 2.5"). So keep Borla as a minimum...

the borla is actually a pretty good exhuast for FI if you're not going for high power levels.... but then again i cut my resonators off so i wouldnt know how the normal borla exhuast performs w/ FI... lol

hummm... the balance tube... not sure about it... it may also create more turbulence in the flow...

but, you maybe right about it... for 2-3 hp... not that much... AND don't forget that I'm running a Vortech...so I need some little restriction here... but it is possible if needed to add one...

the piping diameter system is the same...2.36" OD...

but I like much better the flange assembly of the skunk2 than the Borla...

Buy the way, Thanks guys for the opinions ! it is appreciated !

here is some pics of the skunk2 system....
