Default Walbro Fuel Pump questions. Someone please help me.

I was trying to find a DIY on this but couldn't find any. Yes I have searched. But unfortunately I have found no answers.

My used vortech kit came with a brand new walbro GSS317. It didn't come with any connectors or harnesses of any sort. Any idea if this is plug and play with the factory fuel pump?

And from my understanding, the fuel pump can be accessed from the passengers side cubby? Is this true as well?

Someone please assist me because I would like to install the kit soon.

most people use the Walbro GSS342 for an essentially plug-n-play upgrade.

Don't follow the turbonetics instructions. There is a big flaw is their instructions, and TN needs to update the instructions. DOn't drill the big holes in the bottom of the canister!!!

I think www.cj-motorsports.com has better instructions.

the GSS317 is the low pressure version, if memory serves me correctly. Most people, as Quad mentioned, use the GSS342 which is the high pressure version that we use for FI on the 350Z.

For instructions, goto APS's website, or Turbonetics.

Can you or someone else elaborate on this? Its the first time I've heard of there being an issue with the way TN wants you to install the fuel pump. I'll be doing this in a few weeks so clarification would be appreciated.

the TN mods of drilling the bottom of the fuel canister causes fuel starvation if your tenk level drops below 1/4 tank. Just don't drill the 4 or 5 holes that TN say to do. USe the CJ-M instructions in regards to drilling the .070" hole in the swirl jet oriface.

Great to know, thanks. Good thing I got lazy the other day, because I was planning on doing it their way, before I saw this thread. But instead I got drunk.

Oh boy. Well any idea if the GSS317 can support up to at least 400hp? And any idea of what I should do if my pump didn't include any connectors or pigtails?

I haven't personally had that happen but if you are more comfortable with CJM's way that works as well.

I haven't either. I was just recalling tales of others. I have a G35 sedan, and my final pump/canister assembly is very different from the Coupe/350Z. Even with a stock fuel system, you can put the Walbro into the sedan, and not have any fuel pressure issues!

I am running a CJ-M Stage 1 system on my car now.

yes I know the sedan fuel cannister is quite different. I remember working on Reggie's car and wondering why Nissan would use a COMPLETELY different assembly for the same model car. Oh well, such is Nissan.

it should be able to.

the high pressure version can pump more fuel at higher fuel pressures. here's a pic showing what I'm talking about.
