Default Oil return for a TN kit.......

I have been trying to figure out the best option for this and I really don't want to drill a hole in my crankcase as the Turbonetics instructions say to do. I have been research on here and I have found that people are having issues using a spacer because the return line is coming in at or below the oil level. I was also considering a different oil pan altogether like the APS that already has a fitting for a return line but this seems like it would have the same problem? Also to keep it simple can I just get an oil filter sandwich plate to tap off for a oil feed line for my turbo rather than T-ing off the pressure sensor? Thanks in advance!

In my opinion the oil seal issues with the Turbonetics turbo's was heat related and was remedied with a water cooled bearing section. It did not seem to have anything to do with the oil pan spacer return.

I had read on a few threads on here that the oil would get backed up in the return line if the return line going into the oil pan spacer was at or below the oil level and it would cause smoking. I figured if there was pressure forcing the oil into the turbo that it along with gravity would force the oil back down into the oil pan (even if the line was below the oil level) but I just wanted to make sure before I order this spacer or new oil pan. Is this not something I should worry about?

You will be fine. Nothing to worry as Jet stated. I have the AAM spacer and return hose. No problems, as of almost a year now. Just make sure you apply a good amount of RTV sealeant to all fittings.

Ok then I am going to do the spacer. As for tapping off of an Oil filter sandwich plate for my oil feed line, is this a good thing to do? I'm also hoping to tap off this oil filter sandwich plate to run an oil cooler and I assume run back down to the oil pan spacer for a return. Am I on the right track with my thinking here, it just seems the simplest way that I can think of? Thanks!

What problem are you trying to fix by running a sandwhich adapter for oil supply?

Just seems more simple than running a T off the factory oil pressure sensor. Am I better off just sticking with what the kit provides for this?

Stick to what the kit calls for on the application of the T tap off the oil pressure sensor.

i run my oil feed line for my vortech off a sandwich plate. my autometer oil pressure gauge is on the plate as well so I know exactly the oil pressure pushing into my blower. plus, getting all those T's etc to line up just right on the sensor was a PITA.

Well that's what I was kinda thinking, I guess I will just have to see what it looks like when I get the kit.

Trust me running a tee off of the oil pressure sensor is really easy to do. It only takes about 15 minutes to remove the pressure sensor, assemble the tee, and put everything back on. You can run it off a sandwhich plate adaptor but since my plan is to use that for an oil cooler I didn't want to take up any ports from that. FYI since you are teeing off of the oil pressure sensor your factory oil pressure gauge will be showing you oil pressure going to the turbo as well as the motor minus a small pressure drop through the SS line.

What would be the best option 1.AAM Oil Pan Spacer ($149) w/turbonetics AAM SS braided Oil return Kit ($89). 2. A Stillen Oil Pan Spacer ($99) and use the parts with the turbonetics kit and just tap the spacer. or 3. This "APS Style" pan ($115) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissa...spagenameZWDVW
but how would I run the oil return line on this style of a oil pan? Could I tap the barb fitting from Turbonetics into this type of oil pan? I like the idea of how it wouldn't be sitting as low as a pan with a spacer would be. My concerns with the AAM oil return kit for the Turbonetics is that the diameter of the return line is not as big as the return line that comes with the Turbonetics kit and I don't want to have any issues with oil getting backed up. If I drilled the Stillen and added the Turbonetics barb fitting would I weaken the spacer (The instructions say to drill a 9/16ths hole then tap it). I hope I'm not being a PITA by asking all of these questions but I just want to make sure I do this the best way and I am ordering parts to prep my car for the kit. I just got my SS clutch line yesterday Thanks in Advance!

Just go with the AAM spacer and line. If not, just follow the TN specs for return line. So far as the AAM oil return line being smaller. I could of swore it was bigger, if not, at least same size. Oil isn't going to back up. Plus the AAM spacer has other ports for additional items.
